Toall whom it may concern;
Be it known that l, FnANn'Bnnona, a subject of the Emperor of; Russia, residin at Baltimore, in the State of Maryland, ave invented certain new and useful improvements in lPerfume-Atomizers; and l do hereby declare the followin to he a full,
exact descri tiongo the invention, such as will enable oters skilled in the art to which it appertains to makeand use the.
same.
My invention relates to new and useful improvements in perfume'atomizers and resides in the provision of a simple and inexpensive form of container for perfume which is provided with a novel spraying or atomizing means whereby the pere may be sprayed in an expeditious manner and without unnecessary waste thereof.
An important ob ect of my invention is to provide a device of the character described which consists of a flexible body portion comprisi a container or receptacle which is formed such a way that the device may be carried within a pocket book without causing bulging thereof or in the pockets of ed to coiiperate with a novel form of spraying or atomizing means which is arrand to be sealed by a novel form of closure cap which acts as a valve.
Another important object of my invention is to rovide a device of thecharacter descrii; which is extremal simple as to. construction, reliable and e cient in operation and cheap to manufacture.
The above and additional objects are accom lished by such means as are illustrated in t e accompanying drawings, described in the following specification and then more particularly pointed out in the claims which are appended hereto and form a part of this application.
With reference to the drawings, wherein l have illustrated the preferred embodiment of my invention as it is reduced to practice, and throu bout the several views of which similar re erence numerals designate corre sponding parts:
Figural is a top plan view showing my device as it wouldappear when in assembled I position, Fig. 2 is a vertical sectional view showing the detail construction of my device and the device in assembled position, Fi 3 is a horizontal sectional view taken on ine of Fig. 2, andFig. 4 is an enlarged detailed sectional view of the spraying or atomiaing means. 3 I
Rieferrmg to the drawings the numeral 1 designates a flexible body portion of the device which is formed in the nature of a fiat circular container and is preferably formed of ruloher or some other suitable material. A circumferential integral flange or head 2 is formed on the body portion 1 and serves to provide the necessary rigidity and stren th therefor. This body portion 1 in being ormed in the nature of a container is adapted to receive the cologne to ice sprayed or atomized. Mounted within the container 1 is a spray tube 3 of preferably cylindrical form and arranged with its lower open end in slight spaced relation to the lowermost inner part of the container or body portion 1.
The upper end of the spray tube 3 is formed integral with a frusto conical valve seat 4 that iscarried by a tubular member 5 and preferably formed integral therewith.
This tubular member 5 is screw threaded exteriorly and arranged to he turned in an opening formed through the bead 2 and body portion 1 into engagement with an internally screw threaded ring 6 which is preferably embedded or otherwise suitably secured within the opening described. The up er terminal of the tube 3 is restricted as at to produce a fine spray. lhis restricted portion 7 is in communication with the apex portion of the frusto conical valve seat t which is positioned centrally. of the tubular member 5 and in inwardly spaced relation to the outer edge thereof.
As a means for closing the opening '3 there has'bcen provided a flanged closure cap 8 provided with internal screw threads arranged to coiiperate with the screw threads on the tubular member 5. Formed integral with the cap 8 and centrally of the flanged portion thereof is a frusto conical protuberance or extension 9 arranged to coiiperate with the frusto conical valve seat 4 to seal the restricted portion 7 of the opening in the tube 3. It will be readily seen that when the cap 8 is turned upon the tubular member 5 the valve or protuberance 9. will coiiperate with the frusto conical seat 4 and serve to close the opening in the upper end of the spray tube 3.
To operate the device the cologne is first placed wi hin the container or body portion 1 and the tubular member 5 carrying the tube -3 is then inserted through the opening through which the cologne is poured. The sides of the body portion or container are then pressed inwardly causing the cologne to be forced outwardly through the spray tube 3 and restricted portion 7 of the opening therein. A fine spray is forced from the tube 3 as the opening therein is restricted as at 7 to provide such action. When it is desired to close the outer end of the tube 3 the cap 8' is turned upon the tubular member 5 so that the valve 9 closes the opening in the cap 8 and the device may be placed within apocket book or pocket and will consume little space. It will bereadily seen with reference to the foregoing description and accompanying drawings .that I have provided a simple .and inexpensive form of atomizer for perfume which is capable of being operated in a reliable and eflicient manner, may be carried in a ladys pocket book or pockets of a ladys coat in such a way that the bulging of the pocket book or pocket is prevented and leakage of the cologne is positively eliminated.
In reduction to practice, I have found that the form of my invention, illustrated in the drawings and referred to in the above description, as the preferred embodiment, is the most efiieient and practical; yet realizing that the conditions concurrent with the adoption of my device will necessarily vary, I desire to emphasize the fact that various minor changes in details of construction, proportion and arrangement of parts may be resorted to, when required, without sacrificing any of the advantages of my invention. as defined in the appended claims.
What is claimed is v 1. A perfume atomizer comprising a flex,-
ible body portion formed in the nature of a receptacle, an externally screw threaded tubular member, a spray pipe formed integral .with the tubular member, said reeep taele having an opening therein, aninternally screw threaded ring mounted within mosphere at oneend, the outer end of said spray pipe being provided with a restricted opening, and a flanged internally screw threaded closure capto be turned upon the externally screw threaded tubular member.
2. A perfume atomizer comprising a flexible body portion formed in the nature of a receptacle, an externally-screw threaded tubular member, a spray pipe formed inter-- gral with the tubular member, said receptacle having an opening therein, an internally screw threaded ring mounted within the opening, said tubular. member being turned into engagement with the ring, said spray pipe being positioned within the receptacle and communicating with the atmosphere at one end, the outer end of said spray pipe being provided .with a restricted opening, a flanged internally screw threaded closure cap to be turned upon the externally screw threaded tubular member, a frusto conical valve carried by said cap and adapted to seal the opening in the outer end of said spray pipe.
In testimony whereof I afix my signature in presence-of two witnesses.
FRANK BERGER.
