' DENTAL An'rIcuLA'ron.
I Patented July 7, 1914'.
Application filed February 4, 1914. Serial No. 816,421.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that T, ROBERTITARDIE, a subject of the King of Great Britain, residing at No. 8 Bland street, Ashfield, near Sydney, in the State of New South Wales and Commonwealth of Australia, brass finisher, have invented new and useful Improvements in Dental Articulators, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to dental articu lators which have adjustable parts and it has been specially devised in order to pro vide an improved dental articulator of simplified and cheap construction in which molds for artificial dentures may be readily affixed in working position and may be easily and quickly removed therefrom without being broken or injured and in which also the relative position of said molds may be more expeditiously adjusted at the will of the worker than heretofore.
According to these improvements a vertical distance pillar is formed integral. with or fast to a fixed lower arm and it has a central hole or through the greater part of its height to slidably receive a vertical stem whose height is adjustably fixed by means of a set screw. This stem carries on its upper end the hinged upper arm resting upon the upper end of a screw pin passing through a lug on the inner side of said distance pillar and having a jam nut abutting thereon. The upper movable arm is constructed of two leaves the lower one of which is hinged to the upper part of the beforementioned slidably adjustable stem of the vertical distance pillar while the upper leaf is horizontally adjustable in relation thereto by means of ion gitudinal slot and a clamping screw. Each arm is spread at its free end and has inwardly directed lugs which for the upper arm are in combination with a movable clamping piece which is carried upon the arm in a slot through and is operatable by stem passing through lug thereon and having abutments against another similar lug by collars on said stem and. which for the lower fixed arm are in combination with a clamp piece fast on a screwed stem passing through the distance pillar and having jam nuts on each. face thereof. But in order that this invention may be easily carried into efiect it will now be described with reference to the drawings slot extending from the top both leaves thereof means of a screwed. a female thread in a accompanying and forming part of this complete specification in whic h Flgure 1 is a perspective view and Fig. 2
a longitudinally central sectional elevation of dental articulator-embodying these pres-.
ent improvements.
The distance pillar 3 carries one end of fixed arm 4, on its lower end and it has a central hole or slot 5 in it to receive vertically slidable .stem 6 with or without a feather 7 and adapted to be secured in position by a set screw 8. A lug 9 is provided on the inner side of pillar 3 and adjustable screwed pin 10 having am nut 11 projects upwardly therethrough and forms a rest for the hinged upper arm consisting of two leaves 13 and 14: the lower one (13) of which is hinged to said vertically adjustable stem 6 while on it the upper one (14) is longitudinally horizontally adjustable by means of slot 15 and clamp arm is spread at its free end and has two inwardly directed lugs 17. Upon the upper arm 12 the movable clamping piece 18 has a lug 19 extending through slot 20 and having a female screw adapted to receive a screwed stem 21 which passes through lug 22 on upper leaf 14 and has abutment collars 23 on each side thereof and a milled head 24 on its end. The lower fixed arm supports a similar clamp piece 18 upon a screwed stem 26 which passes loosely through orifice 27 in pillar 3 and has am nuts 28 on each side thereof.
In use a denture mold is placed in position on each arm between the lugs or stops 17 and clamp piece 18 and firmly fixed therein by means of screwed stem 21 while the upper leaf 1% of the upper arm is adjusted bymeans of clamping screw 16 and slot 15 and desire 1. In dental articulators the combination screw 16. Each with a hinged arm spread at its'free end and having inwardly directed lugs witha movable clamping piece of clamping piece in a slot through sald arm a lug on said and having a female screw a screwed stem passing through said female screw and having two collars and a lug upon the arm to 2.111 dental articulators' the combination With a fixed lower arm spread at its free.
end and having inwardly directed lugsof a clamping piece carried on a screwed stemv passing through the fixed support of sald arm and adapted to-be held by jam nuts substantially as herein described and ex 3; In dent-a1 articulators, in combination,
