1,102,14f0fk Specificatie-11 of Iefers azen,
To aZLwLo/m, it may conce/rn Be it known hat I, JOHN C. Comms, o citizen of the United States, residing at Test Philadelphia, in the county of Phila,- delphieand Stale of ennsylvaiiia. have invented eertein new and useful Improvements in Swinging Cradles, of which the following is a specification, reference being had o the accompanying drawings.
This invenion relates to new and useful improvements in cradles and .the like and more particularly to an irriprovedr swinging cradle and support therefor andniy object is to provide a device of this character which is simple and dumble inveo'nstruction. inex pensive to manufacture and one which will. be very eeient and useful in operation.
A further object of the invention resides in providing improved means in ooneeeion. with a cradle for locking the seme on iis ,swinging support to retain said cradle in e stationary position.
With these and other objects in View, the invention consists in. the novel eetures of construction, combination and arrangement of parte as will be hereinafter referred to and more' particularly pointed out, in the specification and claim.
In the accompanying rawings forming e pertfof this application, Figure l is a side elevation of a. cradle mounted in its swinging support. Fig. 2 is a plan view thereof. Fig. 3 is a detail' perspective view of one enel of the cradle showing the looking means \in connection therewihl" Fig. i is a perspective View of the adjafoent supporting member for the cradle.
in, describing my invention, I shall refer to the drawings in whiohsimiar reference diameters designate corresponding throughout the several views; and in whieh-M l indicates a consisting of a. pair of inverted U-sniipod bers 2, he arms o" which are provided with rollers 3 thereon, whereby said bars 2 vmay be said to form base member for the device and. a 1ongi t-uflinal liar 4 Whiehis connected bo said 2, by means of the Llshepod unions 5, braises :mdietains seid zmire l in proper position., The support also eonains pair of Vertical end bars or uprights 5, the lower ends of which are suppox'leil iii the L-sfaped unions 5. and said bars fr? limited oy zi. loing-gb tmlinal bar Y, when {..oniees lire same at point just below the centers thereof.
A cradle 8 is provided, one same being of mifi Creole is proviiiecl with slight exten-- sions "il, it ine ends thereof. Mounied 'trnsvemey of extension l1, to oecil4 late in be mes 12 eliereon is e shaft enthe izierxr poriion of which is loo d out wardly in e crank-like manner, as .t vown ai; i4, find extreme ouf-e1' portion of the 7 Eoo. men erlfiione-ly impede?, Shown ein to nrwie e snbsential notch or lie. To Laie enf?, 3 filippini l? provided. which insists of e ,air'of substantial inverted ksleped 'bare li". similar to the liars i! Miri,
having rollersthereon. These bars 18 are connected by va lon :tudinal bar 19 in the same manneras thbar 4 is connected to said bars 2 and a pilr of end bars 20 are provided which are connected to the unions 21 which secure the bar 19 to the bars 18. The upper endsl of these end hais are provided vWith .T-shaped unions 22 which receive therein the additional Usimped bars 23, the lutter forming brake supporting means for the cradle 8, when the latter is removed from the aforesaid frame 1. I have also provided ineens for supporti ug a canopy, hood or similar device over the cradle 8, and to this end, u substantial inverted U- sheped bar 24 is provided. This bar 2% is of elongated, type, the free ends of the arms thereof being provided with eyes 25 through which extend bolts 26, the latter extending through the upper endnravils of the cradle 8. The outer ends of these bolts QG are engaged by thumb nuts 27 which, obviously, admit of adjustment, whereby-said bar :24 ma y be adjusted to 'various positions with respect to the cradle.
From the forgoing descri tion of the construction of my improved evice, the operation thereof will be readily understood and it will be seen that I have provided a device which is simple and durable in oonstruction, inexpensive to manufacture and one which will be very eliicient and useful in operation.
While I have particularly described the elemente best adapted to perform the functions set forth, it is obvious that various changes in form, proportion and in the minor details of construction may be resorted to Without departing from the spirit or sacriicing any o the principles of the invention.
Having thus described. this invention, what is claimed is:
The combination Within pair of supporting posts arranged in spaced relation to one another, and a member mounted for swingr4 'ing movement therebetween, seid member having longitudinal projecting portions et the ends thereof; of rook shafts mounted transversely on the projecting bese portions of said member and adapted for oscillation thereon, the intermediate portions of vsaid rock shafts being looped to form laterally. extending arm portions thereon, the outercrown portions of the arms on 'said rock shaft beingr bent inwardly to form notches therein, and handle members formed onthe outer ends ci said rock shafts to operate the latter and causethe notches in the arm portions thereof to be engaged and disengaged with the supporting posts.
ln testimony whereof I hereunto afix my signature in the presence of two Witnesses.
