which the following is a specification.
The object of this invention is to provide certain improvements' in the construction, form and arrangement of the several parts of asheet delivery apparatus -for printingbr r machines whereby diilercnt lengths of sheets maybe positively forwarded to the sheet delivery device 4by a positive sheet forwarding device adjustable toward and away from the delivery device, and released as their advance'edges are engaged by the delivery device.
This invention further contemplates an endless sheet delivery, carrier driven at a certain speed, a sheet feeding endless tape carrier riven continuously at a higher speed and positive sheet forwarding rolls driven lov and at the speed of the tape carrier, said forwarding rolls being adjustable along the tape carrier for causing it toV cngage and release different lengths 'of sheets at redetermined times.

This shaft 27 is driven through a geared' connection 29, 30, from the impression cylluder gear l). This arrangement permits the forwarding rolls to be adjusted toward and away from the endless delivery carrier 10 without dis' turbing the driving connection. with the endless tape carrier. l
The sheet guide fingers 24, hereinbeiore referred to, are secured at theproper intervals apartto a cross rod 4:8 mounted in the side plates 38 of the positive sheet forwarding device so that, as the she-et forwarding device isadjusted toward and away from the endless delivery carrier, the guideiin gers 24 are adjusted with it. v
ln operation, the sheet forwarding rolls Y 34, 35, are first adjusted at the required distance inwardly from the delivery carrier 10 to permit the rolls to be released'trorn their engagement with the rear edge of a sheet as the advance edge of the sheet is engaged by the grippers 15 `on the endless delivery carrier. As the sheet of predetermined length is delivered from the impression cylinder between the 'guides 2l and stripper fingers 22, it will be engaged by the feeding rollers 31, 32, and fed along the endless tape carrier until the advance edge of the sheet .is engaged by the forwarding rolls Seh 35. rllhese forwarding rolls will then positively feed the sheet forward until the advance edge of the sheet is engaged. by the grippers l5 0n the endless delivery carrier. it the justalole tow i t, .i t incanta saine time, the rear edge or' the sheet 'will pass 'tronibetween the forwarding rolls thus permitting the endless delivery carrier which travels at a slower speed than 'the tape carrier and forwarding rolls, to bring the sheets out into position to deposit them in the usual manner.
'While i have shown the sheet forwarding rolls as adjustable towardand away 'from the sheet. delivery carrier, it is evident that the carrier itself may and away from the sheet 'forwarding rolls and accomplish the same result. lit is also evident that any form oi: sheet delivery carrier may be used in connection with the sheet ltorwardivog device herein described and it is evident that various changes may be made in the construction, form and arrangement 'ot the several parts without departing from the' spirit, and scope of this invention; hence y l do not wish to limit the invention to the eXactconstruction herein shown, but
