Description

EDWARD J'. BRANDT, OF
WATERTWN, WISCONSIN, ASSIG'NOR TO BRANDT CASHIER COMPANY', 0F CHICAGO, LLINOIS.
COIN-DELVERY MACHINE.
Leanser.
Application led February 6, 1913.
To all whom it may concern.'
Be it known that l, EDWARD J. BRANDT, a citizen of the United States, and resident ot' 1Vtatertown. in the county et .letterson and State of Wisconsin, have invented certain new and useful improvements in Coin-Delivery ltlachines; and l do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof.
My invention consists in what is herein particularly set forth with reference to the accompanying drawings and pointed out in the claims of this specification, its object being to prevent sticking and to facilitate the delivery of coins trom compartments ot coindelivery machines of the type now gem orally known to the trade and public as Brandt automatic cashiers. This object is attained by oii'setting the lower discharge end of each coin-compartment in such a manner as to providefor relieving the lowermost coin or coins in said compartment from much of the weight of the coins higher up in the same column.
Figure l ol the drawings represents a partly sectional elevation of one of my improved coin compartments and contents, the section being indicated by line 1--l in the next described illustration. Fig. 2, a similar view of which the section is indicated by line one in Fig. i.
Referring by numerals to the drawings, 3 indicates one of what is generally a group of coin-compartments in a. tray that may be either a fixed or removable part of a coin delivery machine ot the type above noted. rlhe delivery-end ot the compartment is laterally offset, as shown in Fig. l, and pro vided with the usual coin-supportin r ledges 4- between which a spring-control ed coin pusher 5 has play, this pusher being in pivotal connection with an 'actuating lever 6. The otlsetting of the compartment, as aforef said results in a tilt o'l' the major portion of the coin column therein, the tilt being above any predetermined number of the. coin in 4said column, and thus the weight of the superimposed coin is divided between the incline opposing surface 'Z' of said compartment and the underneath com, the prepon- Specifleation of Letters Patent.

de rance of said weight being upon said inclined surface of the aforesaid compartment. Hence it will be readily understood that the coin in the path of the pusher 5 is not liable to stick or otherwise materially oppose the actlon of said pusher, this being the important advantage in the use of machines to which my improvements relate.
It is to he observed that the amount ot frictional contact of the lowermosttilted coin of thecolumn upon the coin nextbelow is slight, and the descent ci said tilt-ed coins along the inclination of the ottsct portion ot' the coin compartment is unimpeded.
l claim:
1. In a coin holder for coin delivery meh ehines, and in combination, a member having sides andv back Walls fashioned to hold and guide a stack ot coin, a supporting ledge at the base of the holder, means for ejecting the lowermost coin from the holder, and a iixed projecting coin supporting part in the holder at the lower portion thereof above the said base for supporting in part the stack of coin above the base, the interior surfaces of the Walls of said member being smooth and unobstructed throughout above the said projecting coin supporting part.
2. A coin delivery machine coin compartment, said coin compartment having an in termediate portion arranged at an angle to the upper and lower ortions ot' the compartment to provide or a tilt of the major portion of the coin column, and 1a division of its Weight upon the inclination of said compartment and the lowermost remainder of said column. Y
3. A. coin compartment comprising upper andlower portions, and an intermediate inclined portion to rovide for a tilt of the major portion of t e coin column, and a division of its Weight upon the inclination of said compartment and the lower-most remainder of said column.
tl. In a coin holder for coin delivery machines, and in combination, a member having sides and back Walls 'fashioned' to hold and guide a stack of coin, a supporting ledge at the base of the holder, means for ejecting the lower-most coin from the holder, and a lli fixed projecting coin supporting part in the in the county of Je'erson and State of Wis'- holder above the said base having 'a supportcousin in the presence of two witnesses. ing face inclined inwardly whereby the coin 'may pass promptly from the projection 'onto .EDWARD J' BRANDT' 5 the base, substantiallyas described. /Vtnesses:
In testimony that I Claim the foregoing I J. F. RENTISS,
' havehereunto set my hand at Watertown E. KEER.
