In order to maintain the end of the tongue or movable contact 28 in engagement with the contact point 32 a helical spring 36 is employed, one end of which engages the outer end of the armature 22, the other end of which is secured in the said support 34. As a further means of determining the movement of the armature relatively to the electro-magnet the tongue 27, formed in the blank fromwhich the armature is made, may be bent downwardly into the position 'shown in Fig. 2, and may be entered into the opening 37 formed in the side l2 of the housing, the location of the said openin being shown in Fig. 4. The upper end of the opening 37 forms a stop or abutment with `which the tongue 27 engages to limit the 30 movement of the armature away from the core under the tension of thespring 36. l

A, housing for electro-magnets comprising a casing open at the top, an armature pivoted on the casing and consistingf of a plate-like body having oppositely-projecting extensions, tongues struck out from the extensions, an abutment on the casing with which one tongue engages for limiting the movement of the armature, a fixed =rontact on the casin for engagement with the other tongue to orm a circuit make-andbreak device, an electro`magnet in the casing, and a spring connected with the armature to op- 126 posethe movement thereof by the electromagnet.
