TYPE-WRITING MACHINE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed March i, 1913. Serial No. 758,630.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, lVARn S. IRELArm, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Owensboro, in the county of Davie'ss and State of Kentucky, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Type- VVriting Machines; and I do hereby declare which thepaper is fed forward with each manipulation of a key or of several keys simultaneously.
\Vith this object in view, the invention consists in certain novel features of construction and combinations of parts as hereinafter set forth and pointed out in the claims.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a longitudinal sectional view of a stonegraphic typewriting mechineembodying my improvements. Fig. 2 is a view in perspective showing the paper feeding mechanism; Fig. 3 is a view partly in section showing the paper engaging fingers and wheels or disks with which they cooperate, and Fig. t is a sectional view on the line yi of Fig. 3.
1 represents the frame of the machine, wherein is pivotally mounted a plurality of key levers 2 provided respectively with keys "or buttons 3 and with upwardly projecting arms 4. A yoke 22 is secured at its ends to the bars 8 of the framework and the intermediate'portion of this yoke is provided with lugs 23 which support a pin 24; for the accommodationof a spring actuatcd sleeve' 25 carrying a finger26 to cooperate with the intermediate wheel or disk 16 for preventing retrograde movement of the paper. Standards 28 rise from the platen bar 12 and between these standards, guide rolls 2930 are mounted. A guide 31 is disposed below the platen bar and may be in the form of an integral flange depending from the lower edge of the platen bar 12. A door 33 is provided for the rear end of the frame or casing of the machine and this door carries a bracket 34 in which a roll of paper is mounted. The paper strip 36 extends from this roll under the guide 31; then updownwardly and around the roll 30 and upper guide roll 29. After passing over the roll 29 the paper strip is made to pass downwardly and around the roll 30 and from the latter, the strip passes rearwardly over the wheels or disks 15, 16, 1'7 and under the fingers 21 and 26. A guide plate 32 is provided for assisting in the threading of the paper past the roller 30.
