Application filed October 25, 1913.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that l, JADLIES L. Smramn, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Cold Springs, in the county oi Kiowa and State of Oklahoma, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in ll indow-Shade Rollers, of which the following is a specification, reference be ing had therein to the accompanying drawing.
This invention relates to shade rollers and more particularly to that class of rollers which are designed to lit any size window frame. The object of this invention is to provide a curtain roller oi' the kind described, which can be adjusted to dil'lerent lengths and provides against the accidental adjustment of the same.
Another object oi this invention is to provide a curtain roller of the kind above re ferred to which is simple in construction, ellicient in operation and consists of the minimum number of parts.
With these and other objects in view this invention consists of certain novel combinations constructions and arrangements of parts as will be hereinafter fully described and claimed.
Referring to the accompanying drawing: Figure 1 is a front elevation. out the improved roller with a shade mounted thereon. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal section taken therethrough. Fig. 3 is a. section taken on line 3-3 oi Fig. 1. Fig. 4 is an end view of the roller. llig. 5 is a View taken at the opposite end of the roller from that of Fig. 4. Fig. 6 is a perspective view of the primary section of the roller. Fig. 7 is a perspective view of the auxiliary section of the roller.
Referring to the parts by reference numerals, this roller consists of a. primary member 10 having a longitudinally extendinn: groove 11 formed therein. and at one end a pintle 12 is fixedly secured thereto. At the same end of the auxiliary member 10 is secured in the longitudinally extend groove 11 by solder or other etticieut means, a channel strip l3 which extends the length of the groove 11 and is positioned V therein.
The auxiliary member 14 is provided with a longitudinally extending groove 15, said groove having at one end a spring tongue 16 secured thereto. This spring tongue 16 is positioned in the groove 15 and runs the Specification of Letters Patent.

her and is secured to the opposite end of the auxiliary member 1st to a plate 21 which has a journal pin 22 formed at its outer face, said journal pin 22 passing); through an opening 23 formed in the end face of the auxiliary member 14. This journal pin 23 is provided with the usual reduced portion 2% and also with the usual notches into which the dogs or pawls 25 are adapted to be positioned to prevent the rotation of the journal pin in one direction.
The auxiliary member 14: is inserted in the primary member 10 and the longitudinally extending groove 11 of the primary member 10 tits into the longitudinally 0X- tendino' groove 15 of the auxiliary member let and the spring tongue 16 carried by the auxiliary member is positioned in the channel way or strip 13 carried by the primary member and thus the two sections are held tosretl'ier. "i Vhon the two sections are adjusted. to the length desired. the curtain 26 is positioned on the channel member 13 and the spring tongue 16. The curtain will rewind as do the usual curtain rollers by means of the spring and journal pin means already described.
It is obvious that minor changes may be made in the form and construction of this invention without departing from the spirit thereof. it is therefore not wished to conifine the invention to the exact form herein shown and. described, but it is wished to in clude all such as properly come within the scene claimed.
What is claimed. is:
l. A curtain roller comprising a primary and auxiliary member, interlocking; longitudinally extending grooves formed in said primary and auxiliary members, channel strip carried by one of said members, a spring tongue carried by the other of said members, and said tongue adapted to fit in said channel strip for holding; the members together.
2. A curtain roller comprising a primary and auxiliary member, said primary member being provided With a longitudinally extending groove, a channel strip secured at one end of said primary member and positioned in said longitudinally extending groove, said auxiliary member provided With a longitudinally extending groove, a spring tongue secured at one end of said groove and positioned therein, said auxiliary member adapted to be positioned in said primary member whereby said groove in said primary member is positioned in said groove of said auxiliary member, and said spring tongue in said channel strip.
8. A curtain roller comprising a primary and an auxiliary member, means for holding said primary and auxiliary members together, a bridge at one end of said auxiliary member, said auxiliary member provided with indented portions, said indented portions having apertures into which the ends of said bridge are positioned, one end of the spring secured to said bridge, and means positioned at the opposite end of said auxiliary member connected to said spring to prevent the rotation of the roller in one direction.
In testimony whereof I hereunto affiz; my signature in presence of two Witnesses.
