IMPROVEMENT IN HARROW-TEETH.
The Schedule referred to h1 these Letters Patent and making pm of the same.
To all whom it may concern:
' Be it known that I, SQUIRE W. OORBIN, of Bainbridge', in the county of Ohenango, and in the State of New York, have invented certain new and useful 'Improvements in Harrow-Teeth; and do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, `reference being had to the accompanying drawing and to the letters of reference marked thereon making a part of this specification.
The nature of my invention consists in the construc- .tion and arrangement of teeth for harrows, cultivators, &c.
In order to enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appertains to make and use the same, I will now proceed to describe its construction and operation, referring to the annexed drawing, in which- `Figure 1 is a perspective view, and
Figure 2 is a side view, part in section, of 'my improved tooth.
' My tooth consists'of a socket, A, attachedjpermaf nently with a. lateral inclination to the beam B2.
In the socket A is inserted the tooth proper C, which is encircled with a revolving spur or star-wheel,`- D, having three, four, or more blades.
This wheelis placed between the lower end of the socket A and a colla-r, a, on the tooth O.
The blades of thewheels D Dare so arranged that their back or flat surface fronts on rthe lower side of the tooth, andtlieir sharp or cutting-edges fronton the upper side, securing a more perfectrevolution.
. By the active rotary motion of thespur-wheel D, secured by its peculiar construction, the earth is ef'- fectually cut and pulverized, improving the value of the crop.
The number offteeth is proportioned tothe nature of the work to be accomplished.
Having thus fully described my invention,
NVhat I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is'- y The combination of the incined socket A, tooth G, and spur or star-wheel-D, alll constructed a'nd arranged substantially as and for the purposes' hereinset forth.
