Description

ANT'oNYT UMLnn, -.or New Yoan. N. Y.
Letters Patent No. 109,691, dated November 2,9, 1870.
IM PROVEMENT i IN SlRUP-CANS.
The Schedule referred to in vtheee Letten Patent and makingpaxt o! the lame.
I, ANTQNY Tunisien, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented certain Improvements in Sirup-Cans, of,whieh the following is a speeication.'
Having observed that in Sirup-cans as at present constructed the outletv for the sirnp was-an ordinary cock, which, because `oi` 'the natureof theinid, became choked in a short tiine,'requiring frequent removal and cleansing of the cock, thereby retarding the operations of the sirop-can, these defects suggested to me the present improvement, the nature of which consists in the applica-tion of a lever-valve and and spiral spring to the sirup-can, by means of which construction au inlinterrnptedand continuous flow of sirup from the can 'is cteeted when desired, and clogging of' thefivalve 'or frequent removal for cleansing the same, obviated, as I will further explain by reference' tothe accompanying drawing, of whichf Figure 1 is a. top view; Figure 2, a side elevation ;V and Figure-3, a vertical section of myiinproved sirup.
backed hy'and held against the mouth of the outlet by the spiral spring H.v g
.T is the' fulerum on which the lever G play's,and K is the pull or handle, which is attached to the upper end, g", of thelevcmsaid handle, passing through the can andv face-plate, is provided with a stop, L, and a. knob M.'
Thesirup in the can is protected from external air and`dirt by the close-fitting cover and the valve, and the Sirup cau he drawn from the ean'when desired by pulling en the knob M, which is attached by the spindle'l.v to the upper end, g, of the lever, when the lever will tilt on its fulerum, J, the lower end, g, be breed awayfrorn the outlet l) and against the spring H, permitting' the desired quantity of sirup to escape from the can; when on letting the knob go the levrvalve will be forced by thespring H against. the outlet,
resuming its former position and stopping the flow ot' the sirup.
'What I claim 'lhelever-valvc G, spiral spring H, spindle K, knob M,'s'top L, can A,"cover B,. and well 0, combined,
arranged, and, operating substantially as and for the purposes described and set forth.
In testimony whereof', I have hereunto set my sig- .natnre this 27th day of October,'1870.
