Description

dnited Sintra @anni @Wire FLOYD.A oeDnN, or FISHRVILLE, .K-ENTUo'Kr f Letters Patent No. 109,654, dated November 29, 1870.
IMPROVEMENT 1N cHURn-nAsHERs.
The Schedule referred to hi these Letters Patent and part of the same.
Toall whom it may concern:
Beit known'that I, FLOYD OGDEN, of Fisher-ville in the county of Jefferson and State of' Kentucky, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Chiu-ns; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and lexact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing lbrming a part of this speeieation.
My invent-ion relates to chnrns; and consists in combining with a balanced valve, ot' unequal arca on the opposite sides of its fnlcruin, -a churn-dasher, con# Figure l is a vertical, and Figure-2, a horizontal section ot' a churn exhibiting vmy improvement. A f
A is the churn-barrel;
B, the dasher;
C, the dasher-rod; and
F, the valve.
e is a perforated ring, having a ilange, d, thereon, extendingr to the sides of the barrel A.
structed substantially as hereinafter described.
F is a valve, hinged to a transverse fulcrum orpivot,
g, which is fastened to the sides of dasher.
t is a rigid curved bail, to connect dasher B and rod C. h is a ange, to prevent the valve from being pressed upwardly beyond a horizontal plane.
The valve F is constructed ofdifferent arcas and thicknesses on the two sides of its fnlcrum, so as to balancevthercon. v
The principle or inode of operation is as follows: In pressing the dasher down upon the cream, one
side et' the valve is caused, by the larger area on its.
sido of the fulcrnm, to received the greatest amount of pressure, and toassume a horizontal position against the ange 7i. This compels the cream to move through flanges d l1., and bail/1', combinedas described, with the balanced metallic valve F, having unequal areason opposite sides of the pivot g, for the purpose specified. y
' FLOYD OGDEN. Witnesses:
