citizen of the United States, residii'rg at Chi- 1 eaeo, in the county ol Cook and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful ln'n'n'ovemcnts in live-Motors, of which i the following 1s a specification, reil'erence hc- L ing had to the acrcompanving drawings.
This invention relates to new and useful 'ave or sort motors and the. primary ohjcct ol' the invention is to provide a device of this character which may he placed on the beach of a body of water improvements in to generate power under an even motion to he used for any desired purpose.
A further object of the invention resides in providing; a device which will be actuated by the waves or swells as the same are di rested inwariilly on the heat-h and also as the water recedes.
Still another ohjeet; ot the invention resides in providing a device which simple and durable in construction, inexpensive to mai'iuihtcture and one which will he very etlieient and useful in operation.

Having thus described this inventlon, what is claimed-is:
1. In a wave motor, a support, it plurality of sprocket wheels rotatably mounted thereon and 'crranged in pairs, endless chains connecting the pairs of sprocket wheels, a plurality of transverse bars connecting sa d pairs of chains at predeterminedpomts 1n the length of the letter,- resisting members pivotally'carried on certain bars adapted in swing to lie either above or below the adjacent portions of the'chains, each member consisting of a. pair of plates hinged together, means associated only with the plates of each resisting member to limit the swing ing movement of the same with respect to one another, and flexible connecting means between the free end of the outer plate section of each pair of plates and the adjacent transverse rod whereby to limit the swinging movement of the resisting member.
2. In a wave motor, a. support, a plurality of sprocket wheels rotatably mounted thereon and arrenged in pairs, endless chains connecting the peirs of sprocket wheels, e plurality oi transverse bars connecting said airs of chains at predetermined points in the ength of the latter, resisting members pivotsily carried on certain bars and each member consisting of a pairof plates hinged one to the other, means. carried on the side edges of the one plate section adapted to coopercte with.
the other plot-e section of the pair ofhinged together plates, whereby to limit the swinging movement thereof with respect to one another, and additional means to limit the swinging movement of the complete resisthinged together plates, the outer hinged plate section being of greater width than the inner hinged plete section, means in connection with the last mentioned plate section of said hinged together plates cooperating with th projecting portion of the other hinged plate section to limit the movement of said plate sections with respect to one another, and means to limit thes'winging movement of the complete resisting member on the chains. i
