the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in coffee parchers and hasfor its object to provide a simple and eificlent device of this character which may be quickly and readily applied to use for effectively carrying out the purpose for which the same is designed.
A further object of the invention resides in providing a device which may be readily applied to the opening in an ordinary kitchen range and a still further object re sides in providing a device which is simple and durable in construction, inexpensive to manufacture and one which will be very eflicient and useful in operation.
\Vith these and other objects in View, the invention consists in the novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter referred to and more particularly pointed out in the specification and claims.
In the accompanying drawing forming apart of this application, Figure is a side elevation of my device partly in section. Fig. 2 is an end elevation partly in section showing the same applied to use on a range. Fig. 3 is an enlarged top plan view of the device. Fig. 4 is an end elevation thereof partly in section and showing in dotted lines the position of the shaft in its positlon. Fig. 5 is a perspective view of the slotted plate used in connection with the adjustment of the shaft; and Fig. (3 is a fragmentary perspective view of the shaft showing the groove enlargement thereon.
In describing my invention, I shall refer to the drawing in which similar reference characters designate corresponding parts throughout the several views and in which-- 1 indicates a base plate of disk-like design, which is slotted centrally, as shown at 2. to receive therein a portion of a drumlike body 3. This drum-like body is supported in place in the plate 1, by means of the supporting strips a secured to the plate on each side of the body, and a lug or the like 5 is secured to the under face of the plate 1 to have a portion spaced therefrom Specification of Letters Patent.

and project therebeyond, whereby to secure the same in position on a stove.
A portion or segment of the drum-like body 1 is removed to provide an opening in the top thereof and a lid 6 is hinged to said body to cover said opening, said lid being formed of a frame, to which is secured a wire mesh 7 or other similar material.
Formed on or otherwise secured to the one side wall of the drum-like body 3, is a substantial tubular projection 8 in which is rotatably mounted a shaft 9, said shaft also extending through the walls of said body 3. Mounted on the shaft 9, to fit snugly be tween the inner faces of the walls of said body 3, is a sleeve-like member 10 which is designed to rotate with said shaft. Formed on said sleeve, is an arm 11, the outer end of which is provided with a shell-like dasher 12. The outer end of the shaft 9 has a handle or crank 13 secured thereto, whereby the shaft may be readily rotated to cause the dasher to beat the coffee within the receptacle-like body 3 to prevent the same from burning.
The shaft 9 is loosely mounted in position in the tubular member 8, in the walls of the body member 3 and I have provided means for retaining the same in its adjusted position to prevent longitudinal movement thereof and at the same time permit the same to be readily rotated. To this end, a slotted fork-like member 13 is provided, the prongs of which are bent at right angles to the body of said member. The body member itself, rests upon the upper face of the tubular member 8, while the prongs extend within a groove formed in an enlargement on the shaft 9. A set screw 1% is engaged with a threaded opening in the top of the member 8, while a washer encircles said screw to engage the upper face of the slotted body por tion of the fork-like member. hen this screw is turned home, to cause the washer to bind against the fork-like member, it will be appreciated that the same will be held in its adjusted position and the arms of said fork-like member will prevent longitudinal movement of the shaft 9 in its. bearings. This construction admits of the shaft 9being readily removed, when it is desired to clean the various parts of the device and, in fact, also admits of the adjustment of said shaft to various positions longitudinally of .the tubular member 8.
From the foregoing description of the construction of my improved device, the operation thereof will be readily understood and it will be seen that I have provided a device which is simple and durable in construction, inexpensive to manufacture and one which will be very efficient and useful in operation.
While I have particularly described the elements best adapted to perform the functions set forth, it is obvious that various changes in form, proportion and in the minor details of construction may be re sorted to without departing from the spirit or sacrificing any of the principles of the invention.
Having thus described this invention, what is claimed is 1. A device of the character described including a receptacle, a supporting means for such receptacle, a shaft removably insertible within the receptacle, removable means carried by the receptacle to hold the shaft against endwise movement in either direction, and an agitating means within the receptacle operatively connected with the shaft.
2. A device of the character described including a receptacle, means for supporting the receptacle, a tubular projection extending from a wall of the receptacle and in communication with the chamber thereof, a shaft mounted within the tubular projection and extending within the chamber of the re ceptacle, an agitator within the receptacle and operatively connected with the shaft, and a member carried by and adjustable rela tive to the tubular projection and coacting with the shaft to hold the same against endwise movement in either direction.
8. A device of the character described including a receptacle, supporting means therefor, a tubular projection extending from a wall of the receptacle and in communication with the chamber thereof, a shaft mounted within the projection and extend ing within the receptacle, agitating means within the receptacle operatively connected with the shaft, and an endwise adjustable member carried by the projection and coacting with the shaft to hold the shaft against longitudinal movement in either direction.
