W. R. PARIB AULT.
TENT.
APPLICATION IIL'ED 00127, 1913.

Q W Rmm-vx J5 M I I WILLIAM B. FARIBAULT, OF ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI.
TENT.
rename.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented May 5, 1914.
Application filed October 27, 1913. Serial No. 797,518.
To all whom it may 0011 cam Be it known that I, WILLIAM R. FARI- mom, a citizen of the United States, and resident of St. Louis, Missouri, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Tents, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in tents, and has for its object a single sectional pole or support with an angular extension over which is supported the tent covering, said covering provided with a flue opening through which smoke and foul air may escape.
Figure 1, is a perspective view of my complete tent in its erected position. Fig. 2, is a top plan view of the same. Fig. 3, is a side elevation of the sectional pole or support which constitutes a part of: my invention.
In the construction of the device as shown I provide a pole or support 4, constructed of sections 5 held together by couplings 6, preferably in the form of a ferrule. On the top is located an angular coupling 7 which supports a section 8, arranged to project at an angle as illustrated. The free end of the section 8, is provided with a pin 9, which is designed to penetrate the tent covering 10, at its highest point 11. The coupling 7, is also provided with a pin 12, which projects through an eye formed in the covering at a point indicated by the numeral 13; the part between the two pins forming the roof or apex of the tent. The tent covering 10, is properly cut and sewed to fit snugly over the section 8, its sides Lil-{and 15, tapering out wardly, widening at the base as shown. The front 16, being approximately vertical and provided with an entrance slit 17, the edges forming flaps 18. The rear 19 is shaped to extend rearwardly at a greater length than the remaining portion and the wall gradually tapering provides a proper guide or lead for the smoke from a stove or camp fire to the outlet or flue opening 20. In this opening may be inserted a stove pipe if de sired. The opening 20, in addition to permitting the escape of smoke also acts as a ventilator. The tent is properly equipped with guy ropes for supporting the same in upright position.
Having fully described my invention what I claim is:
1. A tent comprising a covering constructed to form a structure with a vertical front wall, slanting side walls and a long slanted combination top and rear wall; and an inclined ridge, a sectional pole consisting of a vertical section and anangular extension which extension supports the covering, and by which the inclined ridge is formed, substantially as specified.
2. A portable tent comprising a single extension pole, a coupling mounted on the top thereof, an extension supported by the coupling and arranged at approximately an ohtuse angle, a covering supported on the pole and extension, the said covering forming a front section having an opening therein, two sides, a short inclined ridge and a long slanting combination top and back which is pro vided with an opening near the top for the purpose of ventilation and the escape of smoke when fire is built in the tent.
In testimony whereof, I, have signed my name to this specification, in presence of two subscribing witnesses.
WILLIAM R. FARIBAULT.
"Witnesses:
ALFRED W. Ems, WALTER C. STEIN.
