.Be it known that 1, JOHN Tnsooxmo, a. citizen of the United States, residing at New llaveu, inthe county of New Haven and State of Connecticut, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Combination Sash-Locks and Alarms, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings.

In the operation of the device as above described, the barrier arm'is normally disosed upwardlyatian angle from its'jpivoted end and rests at its free end against the bar is solocated that the lower sash may be elevated to a point just beneath said bar in order to ventilate the apartment, in which position the lower sash is shown in Fig. 2. Upon the..at-tempt to elevate the lower sash beyond this point so as to gain access to the apartment, the top ba r of said sashcontacts with the lower edge of the barrier arm 9 and forces the free end thereof upwardly into engagement with the lower end of the plate 12 on the upper window sash, thus closing the electric circuit and ringing the alarm bell. When the barrier arm is in its normal position and engaged with the upper sash, any downward movement of saidsash is rendered impossible, while any attempt to raise the lower sash above its adjusted-position will move ment of thearm 9' and .theplate 12, the electric circuit is normally open.
