MEASURING-PUMP.

Be it known that I', Enwane Kurrnnre, a citizen of the United States of America, and a resident of the city of St. Louis and State of .\lissouri, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Measuringlump ,ot' which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being bad to the aecoui 'mnying drawings, forming a partof this specification.
My invention relates to a measuring pump provided with an adjustable member for limiting the degree of operation of the pmnp and a sealing device for locking said adjustable member, which may be adjusted and sealed by an authorized inspector of wei hts and measures.

In the accompanying drawings: A designates a well provided with an intake pipe 1 and an outlet opening 2, a check valve 3 being. arranged in said outlet opening. A pump cylinder 4 mounted on the well A communicates with the outlet opening of said well, and is provided with a discharge pipe 5 at its upper end.
6 designates a vertically movable piston arranged in the cylinder 4, and 7 is a check valve carried by said piston. The piston rod 8 is secured to a rack bar 9 which meshes with a pinion 10. The pinion 10 and operating handle 11 are secured to a shaft 12, journaled in a housing 13. It will now be understood that. the handle 11 and pinion 10 may be operated to reciprocate the rack bar 9, piston rod 8 and piston 6, thereby causing the fluid to be discharged from the cylinder through the discharge pipe 5.
The means for limiting the movement or stroke of the rack bar 9 and parts connected thereto so that. a n'edctermined quantity of fluid will be forced through the discharge pipe 5 comprises a vertical rod 14 and abutments 14 carried by said rod. The upper Specification of Letters Patent.

The rod 14 may be rotated by turning a disk 16 secured to the upper end of said rod, and n'ovided with an operating knob 17. A shield 18, which partially incloses, the rod 14, has its ends titted to the cylinder head 4 and housing 13, respectively.
The abutments 14' are formed with extensions I Q, Q, and G, arranged in different horizontal and vertical planes, and adapted to be engaged by-a lug 19 on the rack bar 9. IVhen the abutment P is located in the path of the lug 19, the rack bar S) and piston 6 may be moved upwardly the distance required to discharge one pint of fluid through the discharge pipe When the abutment Q, is arranged directly above the rack bar lug 19, as shown in Fig. I, one quart of fluid may be discharged by moving the rack bar upwardly until it is stopped by the abutment Q. The abutment Q, may be shifted into the path of the lug 19, with the result of limiting the rack bar movement so that two quarts will be discharged durin the upward movement of the rack bar, an the abutment G is adapted to constitute a stop permitting the discharge of one gallon gnring the upward movement of the rack 20 designates a stop carried by the rod 14 for limiting the downward movement of the rack bar.
