IMPROVEMENT IN SUBSOIL ATTACHNlENTS FIOR PLOWS.

To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, ALBERI' F. Roannais, of the city of Lexington, county of Fayette and State of Kentucky, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Subsoiling-Attaehments for llows, ot' which the following is a description, reference being had to the accompanying drawing.

The invention relates to that class of subsoil-attachnients for plows of all descriptions which has for its object the loosening or pulverizing of the soil at a poillt below the surface of the bottom of the furrow.

This object is elected by the preselit invention by means of a standard, secured to the rear end oi' the beam of aplow, which can be lowered or elevatedby a slot alid sliding bolt. v'lo the lowel` end of the standard is atlixed a pointed convex shovel, immedi :itely under the longitudinal center of wllicli, and running to itspoint, is secured the foot of the standard. Directly ill front of the fi'olit edge of the standard, alid secured thereto, is a coller, being a portion of the standard itself, though partially divided' therefrom. standard increases-until the colter reaches the poilit where it is secured to the shovel, at or about the cellter of its upper surface. This colter terminates ill a foot secured to the center of the shovel, infront of tliejunction of the colter therewitll, and terminates ill a broad, sharp point, somewhat beyond the poilit of the sllovel, where it is secured to that portion of thc foot of thc standard on the underside of the shovel.

General Description.

The standard E is provided, at its longitudinal celitor, with a slot, D, of requisite length.

A part ot' the lower portion, E', of the standard is curved under, alld securely riveted to the under side of the convex shovel L, the part thus secured heilig drawn ont so as to lio firmly attachet. llle front end of this part passes beyond the pointof the shovel and below it.

Therest of the portioils E' E", on the lower and upper surfaces of the shovel, are secured together by bolts, s and t, which pass also through the shovel.

The shovel is' convex and triangular, being sharpeiied at its sides and point, which is ill front, its rear side being at lateral right angles to the poi'tioil E' of the standard lil.

Over the rear of the standard E, at a properheigllt the front end ot' which is secured rigidly toa bolt in the share of the plow.

Operation.
