To all whom, it may concern:
Be it known that 1, Homer; lhlsvrsn, a citizen of the United States, residing in Ogontz, Pennsylvania, have invented certain Improvements in Antirottlers for Vehicle-Doors, of which. the following is o specification.
My invention'relotes to certain improve incnls in means for preventing the sagging of vehicle doors, and the object of my invention is to provide incans which will not only prevent the sagging of the doors hut \vil prevent rattling, so that a neat fit i: ciways secured between the door and the framework, and a further object is to so form the device that it will have a tendency to hold the door closed."
In the accompanying crowing :-Figure 1, is a perspective view showing suilicient of my invention; the door being portly open; Fig. 2, is a vertical sectional View on the line 2--2, Fig. 3., showing the door inv the closed position; l wctionsl pier iew on g. l, is s A view oi the lie per vmich is applied to door tron-1c; lfiig. 5, a. perspective view of the projection carried by the door; Fig 6, is a per-s Jectivc view of the keeper sl'lowing the so lers cletachecl; Fig. 7., is a diagram view showing the projection entering the keeper; Fig. 8., is s diagram View showing the projection forced into the keeper; 9 and 10, are views illustrating modificatween the two flexible rollers; 11, is a. perspective view of o sheathed. roller; Fig. 12, is a sectional view of o cloor frame illustrating a. modification of my invention; Fig. 13, is a sectional view on the line 13-13, Fig. 12; Fig. lot, is a perspective view of one of the rollers and its l" raring, illustrated Fig. 12.; anal Fig. 15, is as sectional view of The doors of automobiles, owing to the rocking movement of the cor, become loose and out of olinement very quickly so that it is dilllcult to keep the doors closed and to prevent them. from rattling. Guides hove been proviclecl. to insure pro o: olinexnent of the doors-with the frernow in closcol position, but these guides do not prey c i;
device which was properly guide the (floor close thornin metallic or fiber and hold it rigidly in its olosecl position, and whichwill. prevent rattling.
hotel-ring now to the drawings, A is sufficlent of a frame of an. automobile or carriage to illustrate my invention.
B is part of the door, D is a keeper set in the door frame, and E is o plate secured to the door and having a, tapered projection e and shoulders e, as shown clearly in Fig. 5. The keeper D has two sockets d-d, and has a tapered. open center dat'or the reception of I the projection 6 carried by the door.
0-r2 are posts projecting through the sockets of the keeper and are provicleclwith heads 0 and on each of these posts are sleeves a which turn freely. Mounted on the posts are ruhher rollers 0 made, as clearly shown in Fig. 6, and having countersunlr portions 0 for the hes {is (1 of the posts 0. These rollers fit snugly upon the sleeves c and each sleeve, with its roller, freely rotates on the post, When the cloor is closed the small enrl of the Wedge orojcction 6 passes into the opening of in the keeper and in contact with the roller 6, es
in 7. Then, on forcing the door to its closed position the Wedge shaped projection e will compress the rollers, as in 8; the rollers passing hack of the shoolcl :s e, as in Fig. 8, holding the projection rigidly in position and. preventing the ClOOl' rsttlingo la fhen it is wished. to open. the door all that is necessary is to use a little force shell the projection e is drawn from between. the roll ers C 0 of the keeper; the rollers rolling on their posts so as to quickly relieve the projection from pressure. ll the rollers hecorne worn they can be readily removed orfl other rollers quickly mounted on the posts.
The device can be readily applied to any door of automobile or carriage and will prevent rattling or sfiggirlg f the door, in-' mg the proper olincment of the lock with its keeper.
'T he rollers are preferably so proportioned that they will be slightly compressed when the projection e is in pill-QC;
in Figs. land 10, l have shown a. modificstion 2.11 which the projection e is tapered throughout its length and. the rollers are .Compresse whcniihe projection is in place between the roller l i 'g. l0.

other at In place of the keeper and projection being located at the center of the door, a roller may be located. either at the bottom or the top or athoth to and bottom of the door, as indicat d in 12. T 4. bottom roller (3 is mounted in. a bearing D secured to the door at the corner and a shouldeietl plate E is secured to the sill of the door so that, as the door is closed, the roller ricles upon the plate, is compressed, and springs back of the shoulder on the plate F.
The same construction can be used at the top of the ClGGI, as in Fig. 12, in which C is the roller, D the hearinq 011 the door, and E the shoulder plate on me door frame.
1 preferably melee the gored projection, which enters the space between the two flexible rollers, notched at the back so that when it is pushed in between the rollers they will expand into the notches and in retaining the door in position in the event of the latch not Working properly. Furthermore, I may inclose the robber rollers in metallic or fiber shells in orclei to prevent the cutting of the rubber by forcing the projection in between the rollers.
In some instances, insteao Oi ers and the projection door, the? the'two roll 5 the center of the on be mounted el'lli l at the too 1: some instezce shown a 4 W cm W. n in toe eioczlueutlco. ii 1:, one be mounted. at
the top ol the door the ot l, and in this instai'zce l -1 may also preferably notch the bearing for the rollers so that the rollers will act as a lock when the door is closed.
I claim:
1. The combination in an anti-rattling device for VSll 2t lieeper secured. to consisting of a plate having ts orojectiiig into the sockets; a flemble e1 mounted on each post'; a transverse extending through the keeper; with plate arranged to be securecl to the door emf, having a lateral Wedge- Witli shoulders back of (l projection being ensvei-ee slot in t c the two fie31- i5, the door is f the shoulders. in on anti-rattling 15" vice f0? doors, rel er having a rubber center; with a thin shell of yielding materiel extending around the periphery of the flexible center; with a shouldered projection a1" .renged to engage the roller; one part being "-0a.'11'1l on the door and the other on the lreme.
