ATTACHMENT FOR.- LIQUID-POLISI-I-CONTAINING BOTTLES.
The invention relates to an attachment for 5 liquid polish containing bottles, which attachment is designed to be removably secured to the bottle and to provide a construction whereby any desired quantity of fluid from the bottle may be delivered to the brush.
The main object of the present invention is the provision of an attachment formed at one end for removable connection with a bottle or similar receptacle and at the opposite end with a brush, an intermediate valve controlling the flow of liquid through the attachment to the brush, the valve being manually opened by endwise pressure upon the attachment and controlling the quantity of liquid flowing through the attachment in accordance with the extent to which the valve is open.
The invention in its preferred form of details will be described in the following specification, reference being had particularly to the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a perspective view illustrating the improved attachment and showing the same applied to the bottle. Fig. 2 is a vertical central section through the attachment.
With particular reference to the accompanying drawings, the improved attachment comprises what may be termed a delivery tube 1 having a conical bore 2 extending longitudinally therethrough. At that end of the tube at which the bore is of greatest diameter there is secured to or formed integral with the tube a sleeve connector 3 which, beyond the end of the tube, is interiorly threaded as at a, for cooperation with the exterior threads 5 on the neck, 6, of the liquid polish containing bottle 7 Specification of Letters Patent.

end opposite the connector 8 is what I term a head 8, said head including a truncated conical section 9 to which the bristles of the brush are secured in any appropriate manner, the head also including an annular extension 10 forming a finger grip and by means of which the head is moved. A spring 11 is coiled about the tube intermediate the connector 3 and the head 8 serving to normally maintain the head at its limit of outard movement on the tube.
Mounted in the conical. bore 2 of the tube 1 is a plug valve 12, said valve being of a size to cooperate with and close the bore 2 at the point about midway the length of the tube. A valve rod 13 is fixedly secured to the plug valve at one end and at its opposite end to a bridge strip 14 extending diametrically of the opening in the head, which communicates with the bore. By this construction the plug valve is fixed with relation to the head, and as said head is longitudinally movable on the tube it is obvious that the head may be moved downwardly on the tube against tension of the spring with the efiect to provide a space intermediate the plug valve and the wall of the bore 2, the size of the space increasing the nearer the valve approaches the upper end of the tube.
In operation, it will be apparent that with the attachment secured to the bottle containing polish of any liquid type, any desired quantity of such polish may be delivered to the brush or on to the article being polished by moving the head longitudinally of the tube against tension of the spring, and that upon the release of the upward pressure on the head, the spring will operate to automatically close the valve and cut off the flow.
What is claimed is An attachment for polish containing bottles including a tube having an upwardly tapering bore, said tube being formed at one end for removable connection with the bottle neck, a head slidably mounted on the tube, said tube being terminally formed with a lateral projection to limit outward movement of the head, a spring encircling the tube and bearing against the head, an annular extension surrounding the head to I In testimony whereof I afiix my signature provide afinger grip, a valve operative in in presence of two Witnesses. the tube bore, a rod connecting said valve 1 a and slidable head for opening and closing RUFUS BOOP' 5 the valve, and bristles secured Within the I Vitnesses:
