KNEE PAD.
APPLICATION FILED APR. 12. 191s,
` Lm. Peeeeced Feb. 17, 1914;
the pad 14 the latter sags and tends to force the frame section 1 downwardly against the resistance of the spring uprights 10 and cushioning springs 13 and to the limit allowed by the said cushioning springs 13,; and to a greater or less extent, dependent upon the applied pressure. Then the pressure is removed or decreased, by the action of the springs the parts return to normal posit-ion, and this cushioning motion is established as the wearer shifts his position upon the ground or lfloor, thus maintaining a constant yielding spring or cushioning action whereby the knee of the wearer is easily and comfortably supported.
It will be seen from the foregoing description that the invention provides a device of the character set forth which is not only simple of construction, and therefore capable of beine inexpensively manufactured, but which maintains the knee of' the wearer' out of contact with the floor or ground and cushions the weight thereof, thus preventing the bruises and injuries to which workers of the character described are customarily subjected.
A valuable and important feature of the device resides in the fac-t that the device is light in weight so that it may be worn throughout a working day without physical eiiort, and that the construction described allows the wearer to walk erect without diiiculty.
I claim z- 1. A linee pad comprising superposed U- shaped frame portions integrally connected' at one end and having cushioning connections at the'opposite end, a flexible apron extending between and secured to theV arms of the upper frame portion, said apron having an upwardly extending integral eXtension, and fastening members upon the frame and extension of the apron for securing the pad to the leg of the wearer.
Q. A knee pad comprising an open resilient frame formed of spring wire and consisting or' an upper U-shaped portion and a lower U-shaped portion, said lower U-Shaped portion haring its arms connected at their rear ends by yielding uprights with the rear arms of the upright portion,l a brace con'- necting the arms of the lower frame ortion, uprights slidably connecting the orward ends of the companion arms of the upper and lower frame portions, cushioning springs associated with said uprig'hts,V a iexible apron secured to the arms of the upper frame portion, and means for securing the device to the leg of the wearer.
In testimony whereof I aix my signa.-`
ture in presence of two witnesses.'
