LAMP-HEATER.
Specification of Letters Patent.

To all whom t may concern:
Be it known that I, WALTER H. Brimer, a citizen of the United States, residing at Fort Defiance, in the county of Augusta and State of Virginia, haveinvented certain new and useful Improvements in Lamp-Heaters, of which the following is a specication.
This Vinvention relates to new and useful improvements in heaters and more particularlyto that class adapted to be used in connection with lamps or the like.
An object of this invention is the provision of a heater such as described which is so constructed that it can be very quickly adjusted to suit height of any sizedlamp.
Another object of this invention is the provision of a heater which employs the use of a plurality of pivoted arms of such formation that they can be folded to require very little space when the heater is not in USG.
A further object of this invention is to improve and simplify devices of this character, rendering them comparatively simple and inexpensive to manufacture, reliable and efii'cient in use and readily operated.
lVith t-he above and other objects in view, this invention resides in the novel features of construction, formations, combinations and arrangements of parts to be hereinafter more fully described, claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which:
Figure 1, is a side elevation of my invention; Fig. 2, is a top plan view thereof; Fig. 3, is a transverse sectional view taken through the receptacle holder; Fig. 4, is a detail perspective view of the supporting frame: Fig. 5, is a similar view of the rotatable head, and Fig. 6, is a similar view of one of the spring arms.
Referring to the accompanying drawings by similar characters of reference, the numeral l0 designates generally my improved heater, shown in connection with a pair of lamps 11. The heater 10 comprises a base 12 which consists of a central plate 13 from which extend a plurality of diverging radial legs 14.
A tubular standard 15 projects vertically from the plate 13 and is provided adjacent its upper extremity with a pair of diametrically opposed threaded openings 16 for the recept-ion of set-screws 17 which engage a rod 18 and hold the same within the said standard in various adjusted positions to suit the height of different sized lamps 11.
The upper end of the rod 18 is reduced as at 19 producing a shoulder 2O upon which rests a rotatable head 21. This head 21 is formed with a central opening 22 which receives the reduced end 19 of the rodl 18 and provided for its rotation. The central portionv of the head is provided with vertical ribs 23 while the ends thereof are provided with inwardly tapered ribs 24; the inner extremities of which lie in spaced relation to the ribs 23 producing passages 25 which open into triangular recesses 26 formed by the said ribs. The lower corners of the recesses lie adjacent to apertures 27 which apertures receive pins or bolts 28 which project beyond the sides of the head and extend through the eyes 29 formed upon the ends of springarms 30. These arms 30 extend upwardly at an angle as at 31 to rest upon the ribs 24, and
at the ends thereof they are extended horizontally as at 32 flush with the top of the said head 2l.
- Each arm 30 comprises a single strand of wire which is bent at its intermediate portion in substantially circular formation to engage a strip of channel material 33 one side of which is connected by a plurality of rods 34 which produce a support for a receptacle the contents of which are to be heated.
It will be apparent that owing to the fact that the arms 30 are formed from resilient material that the same can be sprung out wardly so as to engage the outer sides of the ribs 211. These arms can then be swung downwardly until the angular portions 31 can extend through the passages 25 which renders them inoperative and out of the way when not in use.
From the foregoing disclosures it will be manifest that a heater of the nature described is provided for which will fulfil all of the necessary requirements of such a device.
Having thus fully described this invention, what I claim as new and desire to protect by Letters Patent is:
1. A heater comprising a support, a rotatable head thereon, said head having recesses formed therein producing shoulders, spring arms pivoted within recesses for engagement with the shoulder, supporting means'provided upon said arms and the arms being resilient, whereby they can be swung to an inoperative position.
2. A heater comprising a support, a head rotatable thereon, said head having recesses formed in the opposite sides therefor in spaced relation to produce shoulders and passages leading downwardly therefrom, arms pivoted to said head with the recesses, said arms comprising resilient rods, said arms adapted to rest upon the shoulders and being capable of being sprung downwardly and moved to engage the re-y cesses whereby it will be retained in inoperative position, and supporting means carried by the arms.
3. A heater comprising a head, means for rotatably supporting the head, vertical ribs formed upon the head intermediate its ends,
tapered ribs formed upon the head in spaced relation from the vertical ribs producing recesses and passages extending therefrom, spring arms comprising spaced sides pivoted between the ribs above the passages, said arms adapted to rest upon the ribs and being movable to engage the passages, and supporting means upon the arms.
