ERNESTO CALDANI, OF MILAN, ITALY.
BED-HEATER.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ERNESTO CALDANI, physician, a subject of the King of Italy, and resident of Via Durini 18, Milan, Italy, have invented a new and useful. Bed-Heater, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to a bed heater of the kind in which a heating source is placed centrally in a bed and a suitable f zone is provided to keep the bed linen conveniently lifted, forming a closed chamber to be heated.
The object of my invention is to provide an adjustable frame, together with a system of heat distributers.
A further object of my invention is to sub stitute the heating sources heretofore used with a common lamp.
The annexed drawings illustrate by way of example the device forming the object of my invention.
Figure l is the device in elevational view as adjusted when in position for heating a bed. Fig. 2 is a plan view of same, Fig. 3 is a side elevational view of same. Fig. 4 is a side sectional view of same. Figs. 5, 6, T represent side and plan views of the device adjusted for transportation. Fig. 8 is a sec tional view of the device as shown mounted on a bed.
The device comprises the following parts: rectangular frame 1, bed cover supporting arms 2 rotatably mounted on pivots 3, and duly arrested by pins =1 fixed on frame 1. Legs 5 are similarly pivoted on pivots 6 and duly arrested, when in position, by the sides of frame 1. Chains 7 are fixed with one end to the edges of the frame 1, and with their other end to the edges of a platform 8 to Specification of Letters Patent.

receive the heating source, represented in the drawing by an oil lamp 9.
The system of the heat distributers comprises: an annular piece 10 as well as reflectors 11, 12. The radiated heat from the source of heat passes upwardly and is reflected by a reflector 10, mounted above the lamp. Positioned directly above the reflector 10 and attached thereto is a record reflector or baffle 11, which is suspended by means of chains 77, secured to the upper framework. Positioned above the reflector 11 is a further reflector or baliie 12 also supported by the chains 77. The function of these reflectors is to radiate the heat.
lVhen it is desired to move the device the arms -22 and legs 55 can be folded, forming a flat compact construction, as shown in Figs. 5, 6, and 7.
Having now particularly described the nature of my invention and in which manner the same is to be performed, I claim:
In a device of the character described, the combination with a folding framework, of a rigid portion supported by said framework, a plurality of chainssuppm'ted by said rigid portion and depending therefrom, a plurality of reflector plates supported by said chains and arranged one above the other in downwardly tapering relation, means for supporting a. source of heat below the reflector plates, and extensions upon said rigid portion.
Milan, this day lith of January 1913.
