Description
ADLPHUS F. W. NEYNABER, OF JELADEPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA.
Letters Patent No. 108,618, (interi ctober 25, 1870: entedat'd October 20, i876.
{MPROVEMENT IN LOW-WATER INDFCATQRS.
The Schedule referre to in these Letters Eatent and making part of the same I, ADOLPHUS F. W. Snrxnnnn, of Philadelphia, in the county of Phiindelphin, in the Strate of Icnnsylvnnmimvc invented certain Improvements in thc construction and attachment of my Lownrnter Indienters for Steam-Boilers, patented November 24, 1868, known :is Neynnbes Monitor Low-waiter Indicator, of' which the following is n specification.
Nature ml Ubiecisuf file Invention.
The iirsi: pnrt of'my invention relates tothe iinprovcment in thc construction of the enst-iron bracket; to make it capable ofheing attached to n boiler in the improved manner.
The second parl: of my invention reintcs to thc improved mode of milking the attachment of my indientor with n stoom-boiler.
Description of the Accompanying Drawings.
Figure 1 is i rcrticnl Section of the monitor lowwntcr indicator, with glass waiter-gringo in the state when blowing the alarm-whistle, :ind i-iliowinf.,r the means and the point ofthe new connection with the boiicr, embodying my invention.
Figure 2 is n. perspective view of the ssnne.
Figure 3 is n view oi' the indicator, showing the connection with the boiler ns formerly nsed. Y
liif'nres 4, 5,;1nd 6 nre views of the Neynnher mon itor ow-water indicators, showing how tile connections forwntcr :ind ginss water-gauge cnn be nindo under different circumstances.
General Ih'scripion.
A is the iiont.
B is the rod connecting.,T the float with the plunger (i is n blow-oli" cock.
l is nn arrangement for locking the stop-mires, to prevent, tampering with the indicator.
This indicator differs from 'the one. patented November 24,1868, in 1in-ving the connection for wnterwnive l either ni; a, b, c, or j; lig. 1, (sec also iigs. 4, and 6,) insiemi oi'lnuing the connection nt I?, fig. 3.
The object oi this cli-.inge in the point of connection is to obtnin :i quicker action of the indicator when the water in the hoiler rind in bracket E fniis to the. point. Il., iig. 1.
if the water connection iin' vulve I is inode nt d, tig. 3, .find steam begins to enter bracket E and cylinder 1) when thc water therein is cool, the stenm will condense, :1nd,in pince oiii', water will be drawn from the boiler, as the connection with the water of the boiler hns not been interrupted yet; und this operation wli go on nntil the waiter in the cylinder is hentcd to the honing-point; but if the connection for vnive I is inode nt n, b, c, or f, iig. 1, (seo also figs. 4, 5, and 6,) nini stcznn begins to enter ln'nciicl'. E, the pressure ot' the stcznn on the wnter prevents the waiter from being drawn up from the boiicr, and, insiemi of writer, steam is drnwn into brnekct E, :is shown in iig. l, and the alarm is given instnntnnconslj'.
The connection for waiter-gauge N cnn bc made neeording to circumstances, nt b, c, or g.
Tlins it will be seen thnt-,bymnking the connection for valve 1 nt n, b, c, orfot the indicator with the boiler', the nlnrin will he given quicker than when the connection for valve I would be mede in the former way at (I. This forms the improvement which have made.
Claims.
lL claim as my inventionl. The construe-tion of bracket E, substantially as and for the purpose hereinbcforesct forth.
2. The mode to connect inyiudicntor with a steamboiler, Substantially :is and for the purpose hereinbefore set forth.
ADOIHLS F. ll'. NEYXABER.
Witnesses WAI. Brunn, HENRY HARTMAXX.
