Be it known that I, Joux C. DUrLaa, a
State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Molding- Flasks, of which the following is u. speci cation, reference being had to the accom.-
drawings.
'Ihis invention relates to an im roved a aratus for dumping sand out o the mol ing flask after the molded pattern has been removed therefrom, the object of the invention bein to provide a simple and durable the above character wherein the flaslelnay be quickly therefrom after the sand in the moldin and readily dumpe molded pattern has been removed from the sand.
Another object of the invention is the provision of an apparatus of this character which will possess advantages in points of eiliciency and durability, is inexpensive of manufacture and at the same time is simple in construction and o ration. With the above an other objects in .view, this invention consists in the novel features of construction and the combination and ararts to be hereinafter more pointed out in the claims inwhich- Figure 1 is a top plan-view; Fig. 2 is a side elevation; Fig. 3 is a transverse sectional view.

It will be readily apparent from the foregoing descii ion taken in connection with the accompanyingdrawings that after the. tinishedpattern has been removed from the sand in the mold, the flask is removed from the inold by.means of a derrick or the like and the handle member 6 rotated to actuate the movable lates 8 to remove the sand from the flas It will be readily understood that by actuating the movable plates 8. the sand which has become tightl packed within the flask may be quickly an readily removed therefrom. It will also bo apparent from the description taken in conncction with the accompanying drawings that my device is extremely simple in construction and can be manufactured at a comparatively low cost.
While I have shown and described the preferred form of my invention, it will be obvious that'. various changes in the details of construction and in the proportions ma)l he resorted to for successfully carrying my invent-ion into ractice without sacrificing any of the noveiifcaturea or departing from thel scope of the appended claims.
Aa clearly illustrated in Fig. 2, I provide a pivotcd pawl 19. which is adapted for engagemont with the teeth on the gear 3 to prevent any rotary movement whatever on the part of the gear when the movable plates 8 are arranged in their operative position. Ttwill he readily apparent that the pawl ll may be. quickly and easily raised and disen` gaged from the. teeth on the. gear 3 so that. the gears 3 and ."i may be readily rotated.
