ASSIGNGR- TO METAL S ELECTRIC CLNNECTOR.
Specification of Letters Patent.
To all whom it may concern:
ABe it known that l, JoiiN BERG a citizen of the United States, residingr at 'i536 lVest Monroe street, 4Chicago, in the county of Cook and State oli llinois, havc invented new and useful linprovenients in Electric Connectors, of which the following is specification.
lily invention relates particularly to electric connectors, such as are used for connecting electric conductors together, or for con netting electric conductors to any electric device, such as an electric electric device.
The primary object of the invention is to provide an electric connector of improved und simplified conetriiction.
he invent-ion is illustrated in the preferred embodiment in the accompanying drawing, in which Figure l represents an elevational View of a connector embodying my invention, shown connected with an electric l ainp; Fig. a` broken elcvatioiial view shoiifing the connector used for joining two electric conductors; l `igz enlarged sectional .View ting' device shown in Figs. l and 2, the section lieing taken as indicated at line 3 of Fig. l; Fig. Ll, an end View of the socket shown in Fig. 3,' Fig'. 5, a perspective View et' a double-terminal nieniber employed in the socket Shown in Fig. 3; Fig. 6, a section taken :is indicated atlinc (3 of Fig. 3; Fig. 7, a` broken ele vational View of one of the plugs shown in Figs. l and 2, showing the parts separated; Fig. 8, a front end View of the plug shown in Fig. Fig. 9, a sectional 1view showing a socket ot' modified construction; Fig. 10, an elevational View showing a modified plug; Fig". 11, an elevational view showing my improved connector, in slightly modified iorn'i in conjunction vwith a socket of lie forni'sl'ioujn Vin Fig. 9, and lig. 12, a View like Fig. lO, showing a further modification. Referring to Figs. l to. 8 inclusive, il. represents a doublcend socket;l, a plug conncetcd-with one end thereof; and C, an electric lamp connected willi the other end ot said socketH Itshould he explained, hou'cvci, that in- Fig. 2 the hinip C has heen replaced hy another plug ll.

In an electric connector, a Asocket comprisin alshell, an insulating plug therein provi ed at/lits periphery. with ongitudinal channels, terminals havin body-portions extending into said chemie s, and an insulating sleeve snugly embracing the body-portions of said terminals, ,said sleeve fitted vsnugly in said shell and servingto secure said terminals in said'channels.
6. Inan electric connector, a socket comlprisihg'a shell, separable insulating members therein providedy with longitudinal channels, and a pair of terminal members 'having bodyport1ons confined in said channels Wholly by said insulating members,.each terminal memb er having laterally bent eX- tremities disposed near the end surfaces of, said insulatlng members.,
7, ,In an electricconnector, the combina-l tion with an insulating plu and'provi ed with a lateral stud, of a fitted with an' h conductor connected With said terminal and extending from one endof said plug, and a conductor-housing fitted on said plug and comprisi'g a capi having its rear `end provided vWith an o ening through Which said conductor extends, said cap having a shoulder on said plug' and edge providedJ with `an inclined portion engaging said stud.
In anw electric connector, the combinationwith an insulating4 plugy tted With electric terminals and provided with a lateral stud, of conductors connected with said terminals and extending from one end ofs'aidwplug, and a conductor-housing vfitted on said with an opening through which said conductors extend, said cap having its intermediate portion provlded Wlth an inwardly-struck 4shoulder stud, for the purpose set forth.
9. In an electric connector, the combination with an insulatingl plug fitted With electric terminals and*l provided with a' lateral stud; of conductors connected with said terminals and extendingfrom one end of said plug, and a/conductor-housing fitted on said plug 4and comprising a cap 1 rear end provided with an opening through Which said conductors extend, said .cap having its intermediate portion provided with aninwardlystruck resilient shoulder which C,bears against the rear edge of saidplug and ,Saidcap having its advance edge provided with a bayonet-slot engaging said stud, for the purpose set forth.
