UNITE STATES PATENT *orruou.
PATRICK H. HEALY, .OF LANSING, MICHIGAN, A SSIG-NOR TO AMERICAN CUT GLASS COMPANY, OF LANSING, MICHIGAN, A CORPORATION OF MICHIGAN.
EXHIBITOR.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, PATRICK H. HEALY, a. citizen of the United States of America, residing at Lansing, in the county of Ingham and State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Exhibitors, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.
The invention has particular reference to a device for exhibiting articles, such as photographs, pictures, cards, and similar articles. and consists in the construction of the exhibitor, in the peculiar arrangement and combination of parts, and in certain details of construction, as will be more fully hereinafter set forth.
For the purpose of illustration I have shown the device as adapted for exhibiting photographs, but it will be obvious from the following description that it may be readily designed for use in connection with other articles, and I do not desire to limit my invention to its employment for exhibiting photographs.
In the drawings: Figure 1 is a perspective view of the exhibitor, showing the rear side of the holder; and Fig. 2 is a detached perspective view of the holder support.
In the present instance, the exhibitor comprises generally a holder A for the photograph, and a. support B for maintaining the holder in the desired upright position upon a suitable support. In this instance, the holder is in the form of a plate, preferably of glass, the rear face of which is centrally recessed-as at ain which the photograph or the picture is adapted to be placed, a portion of the glass surface of the holder being retained to form the desired covering for the picture. Bearings are provided on the frame or holder for its sup- Specification of Letters Patent.

port, and I have shown these bearings in the form of lateral openings 6 made in the side walls of the recess.
The support is preferably made from a single piece of spring wire, the portion intermediate its ends being bent first to form a main loop section 0, a complementary loop portion (Z bent at an angle to the main section, and laterally-projecting extremities e f, the ends being preferably sharpened to engage the openings b in the holder and thespring of the metal being adapted to hold the support in proper engagement with the holder. As thus constructed, the section (Z of the support acts not only as a stop preventing outward movement of the loop section beyond the position where it serves to retain the holder in an upright position, but likewise bears against the photograph or picture and holds the same firmly against the transparent panel of the holder. Furthermore, by reason of the detachable connection the support has with the holder, it may be readily removed therefrom so as to be combined with the holder to form a compact package.
What I claim as my invention is-' In an exhibitor, a holder for the article to be exhibited, comprising a transparent plate or panel having a recess formed in one side of a size to receive the article and lateral openings made in the side walls of the recess, and a support for the holder having a bearing section adapted to hold the article against the bottom of the recessed portion, said support having pivot portions extending into the lateralopenings.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
