UNITED srnrn's PATENT OFFICE.
1,085,450. y Speeifiw 0f Leffe" Patent A Patented Jan. 27, 1914.
t Application led February 81913. 'Serial No. 747,110.
To all 'whom t may concern.' 19 opposite to and in line with the cup 23,
Be it known that I,.LUIs V. LOPEZ S'.,a the cups being adapted to receive the bot.
citizen of the Republic of Chlle, South toms of the usual conical shakers or other erica, and! a resident of Valparaiso, equivalent liquid containers, to clamp the 60.
Chile, have invented a new and Improved said containers in a horizontal position with Shaker, of which the following is a full, their mouths against each other, or 'one clear, and exact description. within the other as is usual, said containers The object of my invention is to provide being shown in dotted lines 1n Fig. 1, and a device for beverages and other indicated by the numeral 5. 65
liquids, and in which the liquid containers The pivot 25 of the standard 16 is near will be disposed horizontally and reciprothe lower end so as to provide a short lower cated in the horizontal plane instead of in the vertical plane.
further object is to provide a shaker having an approved construction designed to promote convenience in the use of the shaker, and effect a rapid` and thorough shaking of the liquid.
he invention will be more particularly described hereinafter and then pointed out in the claims.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification, in which similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in both figures.
Figure 1 is a front elevation of a shaker and its actuating means, constructed in accordance with my invention; and Fig. 2 is an end view thereof.
In forming my improved device, a vertical frame 10 is provided, preferably in the form of a plate, and which carries at the rea-r side at the upper end, a clamp 11,
having rearwardly extending upper and lower arms 12, 13, one of which as 12, carries screw clamps 1'4 threaded in said arm to move the heads 15 toward and from the opposite arm 13, for clamping the device to the edge portion of any convenient supporting table or ledge. A standard 16 is pivoted on the plate A, at the front, to rock in the vertical planeand the upper end of saidstandard has arms 17 projecting at opposite sides, one arm terminating in an integral upright 18, and the other arm 17 carrying a slide 19 having a horizontal foot 20, which is clamped to its supporting arm 17 by suitable means, such as a bolt 21 and wing nut 22, t-he opposed surfaces of the foot 20 and its supporting arm 17 being desirably roughened to give a better engagement.
On the inner face of the upright 18 a *5 conical cup 23 is secured, and a similar cup" 24 is secured to the inner face of the upright cups. To actuate the standard, driving? connection is made with the lower arm 27 7o of the standard. The'actuating means comprises a pitman 30, pivoted at the lower vend of the arm 27 and connected by a wrist pin 31 to a spur pinion 32 that gears with v a spur wheel 33 on the hub 34 of a hand 75 w eel 35, provided with any suitable crank handle 36. e arrangement is such that the turning of the hand wheel 35 will give a rapid movement to the standardyfor effectively shaking the contents of the containers clamped by the cups 23, 24.
The device may be quickly secured to any convenient support. and the liquid containers be quickl place, and as readily removed, and the adjustmentof the containers and the operation of the device are effected with convenience and despatch.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Pa-tent* 1. A shaker, comprising an upright frame having at the back thereof spaced, rearwardly projecting, parallel members, clamp screws movable in one of said members to` ward'and from the other member, a standa. xed upright at the free end thereof, a slide on the other side arm, said slide having an upright and provided with a foot having sliding connection and clamping engagement with the side arm support-ing it, bot-h of said uprights having on their inner faces lateral, conical cups disposed oppositely to and in line with each other, and actuating means connected with the short arm of the standard.
2. A shaker, comprising la, frame, a standbottoms of the two liquid containers', to ard pvoted near its lower end to form upclamp the containers against',v each other per and lower arms, mea-ns for actuating horizontally. the lower end o the standard, the said In testimony whereof I have signed my l5 5 standard having opposite, projecting, intename to this specification in the presence of gral side arms on the uper end,do1(11e of iid two subscribing witnesses. y arms aving an uprig t provi e Wit Va lateral cup, 'and a, slide adjustably securedl LUIS V' LOEZ S on the other side arm and provided with a Witnesses: 10 cup disposed opposite to the cup on the fixed 1 A.
