To all whom it may concern lie. it known that I, Enron McCoMAs, a citizen of the United States, residing at Matoaka, in the county of Mercer and State of Vest Virginia, have invented new and useful Improvements in Ticket-Delivery Machines, of which the following is a specification.

The invention relates to ticket, delivery machines, and more particularlyv to the class of ticket registry and delivery machines.

The primary objectof the invention is the provision of a machine of this character wherein any number of tickets will be held therein, the tickets being disposed in independent stacks or series and can be singly ejected for convenient distribution thereof to purchasers, the total number of all of the tickets and the number of tickets ejectcd from each stack being registered so as to enable the vendor to keep an accurate account of the tickets distributed or vended.

Another object of the invention is the provision of a ticket machine of this character wherein the tickets deposited therein will he held assorted in independent series so that the tickets of such series can be easily and conveniently distributed by singly ejecting the same automatically from the machine, thereby obviating the use of a ticket rack or holder of the ordinary construction which requires the removal of the tickets therefrom by hand in the usual manner.

further object of the invention is the provision of a machine of this character which enables the automatic registering of each and all of the tickets ejected therefrom so that the operator is relieved from keeping a tally of the tickets sold and is assured of an accurate registration of the sales from each lot and the aggregate or total number thereof delivered from the machine.

A still further object of the invention is the provision of a machine of-this character which is simple in construction, reliable. efficient and accuratein its operation, readily and easily manipulated, and also one which is inexpensive in manufacture With these and other objects in view, the invention consists in the construction, combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawing, and pointed out in the claim hereunto appended.

In the drawings :Figure l is a front elevation of a ticket machine constructed in accordance with the invention. Fig. 2 is a vertical longitudinal sectional view therethrough. Fig. 3 is a fragmentary perspec live view of the delivery and registering mechanism of the machine. Fig. at is an enlarged vertical sectional view through one of the ticket troughs or chutes, showing a ticket in position to be ejected therefrom. Fig. 5 is a similar view, showing the ticket ejected.

Referring to the drawings by numerals, the machine comprises a casing 10 which is preferably of box-like form and can be made from any suitable material as well as being ornamented to suit the requirements or fancy of the user, the lower portion of the casing being extended and in which is fitted a drawer 11 capable of sliding movement for the opening and closing thereof for receiving and changing of money during the sale of the tickets ejected from the easing. the tickets being held in and ejected from the latter in a manner presently described.

Mounted on the front wall of the casing 10 above the extension thereof are a plurality of ticket troughs or chutes 12, the same being slightly outwardly inclined with respect to the vertical front wall of the easing and are adapted to receive stacks of tickets 13 adapted to be ejected therefrom in amanner presently described.

Working within the lower end of each trough or chute 12 in a. suitable guideway 14 formed therein and also in the front wall of the casing 10 is an ejecting slide 15-wh1ch is designed to engage the lowermost ticket of each stack to force the same or eject it outwardly through a discharge slot 16 formed at the front of the trough or chute 10, the slide being formed with an arm 17 which is hinged to a rocking lever 18 by means of a pivot 19, and this lever is fulcrumed or swingingly connected upon a supporting shaft 20 .journaled within the casing 10 in the side walls thereof.

Fixed to and rising from the bottom of the casing 10 interiorly thereof is a guide member or support 21 in which are slida-bly mounted a plurality of push plungers 22, 1.

the same being located below the arm 17 and are connected to the lower ends of the levers 18 by means of pivots 23 so that on pushing inwardly upon any one of the plungers 22 the lever 18 will be rocked, thereby shifting the arm 17 and its slide 15 for ejecting a single ticket from the trough or chute 12 at the front of the machine so that the ticket can be handed to the purchaser by the operator of the machine.

Formed on the front ends of the plungers 22 are button heads 24 which are adapted to be grasped by the operator of the machine for movingthe plungers, the ends of the plungers carrying the heads 24 being projected exteriorly of the casing 10, while the opposite inner ends of these plungers 22'are disposed in the path of trip arms 25 integral with and projecting upwardly from a. counter shaft 26' which has its ends journaled in the sides of the casing 10 and is formed with a single crank 27 to which is connected an operating rod 28 of a registering device 29 which is of any conventional form for recording each partial turning movement of the shaft in one direction when actuated by any one of the plungers 22 so that the said registering device 29 will register successively all of the tickets 13 ejected from the respective troughs or chutes 12, thereby enabling an accurate total of all tickets delivered from the machine. This registering device 29 is suitably supported interiorly of the casing 10 and is provided at the perimeter of its casing 30 with a sight opening 31 so that the reading of the register can be had on inspecting the same to determine the total number of tickets ejected from the machine.

Arranged above each plunger 22 and suitably supported interiorly of the casing 10 isa registering device 32 which may be of any conventional form and is actuated through the medium of an operating rod 33 which is supported by and pivoted at 34 to the plunger 22 adjacent thereto so that when the said plunger is operated an accurate registration of the tickets ejected from any one of the troughs or chutes 12 can be accomplished so that any number of tickets ejected from the respective stacks or series held in the machine or the total number of tickets ejected will be registered by the respective registering devices, and in this manner an accurate account of the number of tickets delivered from the machine will be automatically effected for the convenience of the operator of the machine, thereby avoiding the necessity of keeping a tally or making a memorandum of the tickets as the same are ejected from the machine.

Surrounding the plungers 22 and connected thereto and also connected to the support 21 are coiled springs v35 which are designed to act upon the plungers so as to normally hold the ejecting slides 15 retracted from the troughs or chutes 12 so as not to interfere with the gravitation of the tickets 13 therein and to assure the ejecting of the same therefrom. These springs 35 also serve to normally set the plungers for the working of the ejecting slides when the ma' chine is operated.

The registering devices 32 at the perimeters of their casings 36 are formed with sight openings 37 so that a reading of the registering devices can be had at will. The casing 10 is provided with a hinged door 38 which permits access to be had to the mechanism interiorly thereof and also to permit the reading of the registering devices.

From the foregoing it is thought that the construction and manner of operation of the device will be clearly understood, and therefore a more extended explanation has been omitted.

What is claimed is 2-- A ticket delivery machine comprising a casing having a ticket delivery chute de pending exteriorly from its front wall and provided with a discharge way, an ejecting slide working within the discharge way, a plunger slidably mounted within the casing and having one end projected exteriorly thereof, a registering device disposed above the plunger and having a ratchet Wheel, a spring-held dog supported by the plunger and engageable with the ratchet wheel on movement of the plunger in one direction, a rocking connection between the slide and the said-plunger whereby the same will be simultaneously operated on actuating the plunger, a crank shaft journaled in the casing rearwardly of the plunger, an arm fixed to the crank shaft in alinement with the inner end of the plunger, a second registering device mounted within the casing, a pawl connected to the crank of the shaft and adapted to operate the second registering device on the turning of the said shaft, and means acting on the shaft to hold the arm in the path of the inner end of the plun er.
