APPLIUATION FILED JAN. 7, 1913.
Patented Jan. 13, 1914.
UNITED sra rns PATENT OFFICE.
GUY HOPKINS. OF PORTLAND, OREGON; HARVEY M. PALMER ADMINISTRATOR OF SAID HOPKINS, DECEASED.
SUPPORT FOR ELECTRIC SERVICE-WIRES.
I Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Jan. 13, 1914.
Application filed .lanuary 7, 1913. Serial No. 740,645.
To all whom, it may concern:
I30 it known that I, GUY HorniNs, a citizen of the l nited States. residing at Portland, in the county of Multnomah, State of Oregon. have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Supports for Electrio Serviceires; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it ap )ertains to make and use the same.
lhis invention is directed to improvements in supports for electric service wires. and has for its object to so construct a de vice of this character so that-the same may be conveniently applied to the usual cross arm pins.
A further object of the invention is to so construct a device of this character that a number of service wires may be connected thereto so that the same will be properly spaced a their points of attachment, thus relieving the congested condition now prevalent in similar devices.
'ith these and other objects in view. this invention resides in the-novel features of construction, formation, combinations and arrangements of parts to be hereinafter more fullydescribed, clailned and illustrated in the zu'companying drawing, in which Figure 1 is a side elevation showing the device applied to a cross arm pin. Fig. 2 is a top plan view with the insulator removed.
lteferring to the d 'awing, the numeral 1. designates a cross arm pin having mounted thereon the usual glass insulator 2 to which the feed wire 3 is secured.
. The support consists of -a pair of semi-circulal sections 4. eachof which are formed from a plurality of integral arcuate membets 5, the same being covered with suitable insulation material 6. A split collar 7 is provided. each section 8 thereof having radiating therefrom upwardly curved arms 9. the outer ends of which are connected to the sections 4, and at points of connect-ion of certain of the members 5. The sections 4 are hingedly connected at their ends 10, and have their ends 11v provided with perforated ears 12, said ears being engaged by a clamping bolt 13. which when manipulated will cause the sleeve sections 8 to tightly engage the cross arm pin 1. thus effectually supporting the device.
The service wires 14. are connected to the feed wire 3 and are engaged upon the sections 4 so that each feed wire used will engage one of the arcuate members 5, and when engaged thus the service wires will be spaced at their point of connection with the sections 4.
What is claimed is 1. In combination with a cross arm pin, of a service wire support comprising a pair of hingedly connected sections, sleeve sections carried by said sections and adapted to engage said pin, as and for the purpose set forth. i
In combination with a cross arm pin, of a service wire support comprising a pair of sections, each of which are formeihfrom a plurality of integral arcuate members, sleeve sections having radiating therefrom arms having their outer ends connected to thesections. said sections having certain of their ends hingedlyccnnected, and their other ends provided with ears, and means -a rried by the ears for clamping the sleeve sections upon the cross arm pin.
In testimony whereof, I atfix my signature. in the presence of two witnesses.
GUY HOPKINS.
