NECK-PAD.
To all whom it may concem:
Be it known that I, RICHARD DITTMER, a citizen of the German Empire, residing at Charlottenburg, Germany, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Neck-Pads, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing.
This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in neck pads, and relates more particularly to a pad of this character which retains the collar free of contact with the weareris neck, to avoid the formation of boils, which latter oftentimes result from the friction which continual rubbing of the collar against the neck produces.
In the drawings which illustrate one way in which the invention may be carried into practice, Figure 1 is a top plan view of Fig. 2, and Fig. 2 is a side elevation of the invention as in use, only one side of the same appearing, the opposite side being concealed by the neck of the wearer.
The neck pad consists of a shield formed of some very light Smooth material, such as celluloid formed to have a central part a which is for engagement with the neck. Each end of part a is preferably widened to form a transverse or lateral flap b, which flaps Seat on the shoulders and serve to retain the shield in position. The upper edge or side of the part a is' provided with a roll or protuberance which extends throughout the length of the part a and projects rearward Specification of Letters Patent.

For the purpose of positively holding the shield in position, it is Secured to the shirt neck hand g by the usual collar button lv which passes through the shield, the neck band and the collar, or the stud can be se cured to the shield so that no part of same projects beyond the inne-r face of the shield.
The shield can be made in various sizes corresponding to different widths of collars, and in the instance of shirts which fasten in front and having double neck bands, the inner band must be provided with a hole for the stud of the shield.
lVhat is claimed is:
A neck pad, consisting of a shield adapted to be disposed between the neck and the shirt and provided with a pair of lateral supporting means which eXtend toward the shoulders, the upper edge of said shield being provided with a roll or protuberance for holding the collar' away from the neck, and means for attaching the shield to the shirt.
