CREASING DEVICEFOR TROUSERS.
Specification of Letters Patent.
7 Application filed July 31, 1913.
Patented Dec. 30, 1913. Serial No. 782,213.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, STANIsLAW RoNDA, a subject of the Czar of Russia, residing at Erie, in the county of Erie and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Oreasing Devices for Trousers, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing. I
This invention relates to a creasing de vice for trousers, and the primary object of my invention is to provide a simple and durable device that can be easily placed in the leg of a pair of trousers to crease the same.
Another object of this invention is to provide an extensible frame that can be placed in the legs of trousers for creasing the same and permit of the trousers being suspended from a suitable support.
A further object of this invention is to provide a creasing device that is durable, easy to adjust and highly efficient for the purposes for which it is intended.
I attain the above and other objects by a mechanical construction that will be hereinafter specifically described and then claimed and reference will now be had to the drawing, wherein Figure 1 is a front elevation of the creasing device, Figs. 2 to 4 inclusive are enlarged cross sectional views of the device, Fig. 5 is a perspective view of a portion of the device.
A creasing device in accordance with this invention comprises two longitudinal frames 1 that are channel-shaped or U- shaped in cross section. Pivotally mounted in the frames 1, adjacent to the lower ends thereby by transverse pins 2 are spreader bars 3 that have the ends thereof pivotally connected, as at 4 to an adjusting bar 5. The upper end of the adjusting bar has one edge thereof provided with angularly disposed and equally spaced slots 6 and at the upper end of said bar there is a loop or handle 7.
Slidably mounted upon the upper end of the bar 5 is a locking bar 8 that is slitted, as at 9 and the slitted portion bent outwardly to form a tooth 10 adapted to engage in one of the slots 6 and lock the bar 8 relatively to the bar 5. The upper end of the locking bar 8 has a loop or handle 11 and the lower end thereof has straps 12 that embrace the adjusting bar 5.
Pivotally connected to the lower end of the locking bar 8, as at 13 are spreader bars 14 and these bars are pivotally mounted in the frames 1, as at 15.
The upper ends of the frames are provided with arms 16 and 17, the arm 16 having a strap 18 thatembraces the arm 17 and the arm 17 a strap 19 that embraces the arm 16, whereby said arms will connect the upper ends of the frames 1 to permit of said frames being extended or retracted relatively to the bars 5 and 8. The bars 5 and 8 pass between the arms 16 and 17 and the straps thereof, as best shown in Fig. 2.
With the frames 1 in a retracted position, as shown. by dotted lines in Fig. 1 the device can be easily placed in a trouser leg. By then shifting the bar 8 relatively to the bar 5 the spreader bars 3 and 14 extend the frames 1 whereby said frames will frictionally engage a trouser leg and crease the same. The bar 8 is locked in adjusted position relatively to the bar 5 by the tooth 1O engaging in one of the slots 6. The handles or loops 7 and 11 permit of the device being suspended from a suitable support.
The device in its entirety can be made of light and durable non-corrodible metal and can be constructed upon a smaller scale and used as a sleeve creasing device.
What I claim is A trouser creasing device comprising channel frames, sets of spreader bars pivotally connected to said frames, an adjusting bar pivotallyconnected to one set of spreader bars and having the upper end thereof provided with a plurality of slots, a locking bar slidably mounted upon said adjusting bar and having the lower end thereof pivotally connected to the other set of spreader bars, a tooth carried by said In testimony WhereofI aifix my signature locking bar and adapted to engage in one in the presence of two Witnesses.
of the slots of said adjusting bar loops car- V ried by the upper ends of said bars, and 'STANISLAW B arms connected to the upper ends of said Witnesses:
CLARK OLDs,
frames and slidably connected together with NELLIE MURPHY.
said bars passing between said arms.
