VINCENT PERCY SIVIITH, 0F GILLINGHAM, ENGLAND.
ANCHOR.
To all 'whom/15 may concern:
Be it known that I, VINCENT Pelzer Citrin-i, a subject of the King of Great britain and Ireland, and residing at Portland Lodge, Gillingham avenue, Gillingham, in the county of Kent, England, captain, it. A., have invented new and useful Improvements in Anchors, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in anchors and more especially to those of the mushroom or disk type.
lt is Well known that, While such anchors as at present constructed'are not so liable to become entangled in the chain, ropes or moorings, as are those having a stock, arms and flukes, yet they are not nearly so suit able as the latter class when used on a hard bottom as there are no Sharp points to catch in the ground.
New according to the present invention I provide an anchor of the mushroom type having two or more points and l also eccentrically mount or load the base plate or disk thereof so that the said point-s will be always tending to point in a downward direction.
My invention is hereinafter described with reference to, and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in Which:-
Figure l is a sectional front elevation; Fig. 2 is an underside plan View; Fig. 3 is a side elevation, and Figs. ll, 5, (i, 7 and S are detail sectional views taken on the lines 4 4-, 5 5, 6 6, 7-7, and 8--8 respectively on Fig. 1.
its shown the disk or base plate a of the anchor has a notch or open portion therein extending for about one sixth part of its circuinference so as to form the points c c which are suitably bent shown in Figs. 2 and 3 to forni flukes and which may be reinforced by forming projections or ribs thereon.
The eccentric loading` may as shown in Figs. 'l and 3 be effected in several Ways such as by attaching the shank (Z to the base Specification of Letters Patent.

plate a out of its center toward the notch Z) and points C' c. This may also be effected by eccentrically loading the shank itself, or as shown by loading a portion of the disk such by the provision of a block 7*', or by a combination of such arrangements. The loading of the disk may if desired and as shown be accomplished or aided by the provision of apertures c c made in one portion of the disk which reduce the Weight on that side. The shank (Z may conveniently be secured to the disk a by means of a taper key g' of the kind shown or in any other conv-enient manner. Thus I ain enabled to provide a stockless anchor which is easy to stovv away and handle, is not liable to foul the chains, ropes, or moorings, and is suitable for use on any kind of ground or bottom.
Having now particularly described and ascertained the nature of my said invention and in what manner the saine is to be performed, I declare that what I claim is l. An anchor comprising, a substantially circular disk or head having points or fiukes thereon at one side thereof, and a shank attached eccentrically to the disk in the inanner and for the purpose described.
2. An anchor comprising, a substantially circular disk or head having points or tlukes thereon at'one side thereof, and a Weight or block forming` a boss for the reception of a shank and for effecting the eccentric loading of the disk, substantially as described.
3. 1in anchor comprising in combination, a substantially circular disk or head having points or tlukes thereon at one side thereof and provided With apertures serving to lighten the disk on the opposite side to that at which the points are formed. and a shank ecc-entrically attached to the disk, substantially as described.
Dated this (3th day of January 1913.
