To all whom it may concern."
Be it known that l, Hans Gnrnn, citizen of Germany, residing at Munich, Bavaria, Germany, have invented certain new and useful improvements in Heating Apparatus for Drying Damp Masonry; and l. do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
ft is a part of the prior art to dry damp walls by means of blow-lamps, which are held against the wall by hand. It is however difficult and not economical to dry surfaces of considerable area by this means.
The apparatus according to the present invention consists essentially of a number of blow-lamps arranged on a stand in several rows, having deflectors arranged between the several rows. "With this apparatus it is possible to apply an intense heat to any part of "he wall and at the same time to limit the surface area under operation by means of the plate-walls.
The blow-lamps are arranged in and held in place by loops having forked ends, so that a displacement of the lamps when the apparatus is moved from one place to another is avoided.
The preferred embodiment of the invention is illustratively exemplified in the accompanying drawing, wherein Figure 1 is a rear elevatio-nal View of the device, the doors being omitted; Fig. 2 is a vertical sectional view on the line 2-2 of Fig. 1; and Fig. 3 is a cross sectional view on the line 3-3 of Fig. 2.
Referring to the drawing, 5 designates any suitable form of torch or blow pipe provided with the usual nozzle and handle projecting in substantially opposite directions from the tank or body of the torch. Secured to the partitions or shelves 1, which subdivide the apparatus easing into a plurality of compartments. are supporting brackets 71: for holding the torches in position. Fach bracket comprises an upwardly and rearwardly extending arm forked or bifurcated at 70 to engage the nozzle of the torch, and a substantially horizontal, slightly upwardlyturned, rear arm forked or bifurcated at 70 to engage a double looped wire handle carried by the torch, one loop 6 thereof engaging the filling nipple 6 of the torch and the other loop 6 being rearwardly extending and engaged by spring loops i projecting inwardly from the inner surfaces of the doors a. which are hinged to the rear of the apparatus casing.
W hen transporting the apparatus the spring loops 2', attached to the inside of the doors 0, enter between the tines of the fork in and press against the handles of the torches (Fig. 2), thus holding them firmly in position.
The torches F) are protected by the partition 0 against the heat reflected back from the wall m. The partition 0 may advantageously be made of asbestos protected on both sides by sheet metal. Secured to the front of the apparatus and projecting out wardly therefrom are several parallel deflectors g interconnected by the side bars 9, these deflectors serving to prevent dissipation of heat when the torches are in oper ation. Handles it serve to carry the whole apparatus from place to place.
What I claim as my invention and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:
1. An apparatus of the character specified, embodying therein a casing and partitions therein, torches within said casing, supports for said torches carried by said partitions, doors carried by said casing, and means carried by said doors for locking the torches in position.
2. An apparatus of the character specified, embodying therein a casing having a wall thereof formed of fire proof material, torches within said casing, partitions in said casing, supports on said partitions for retaining said torches in position to have their nozzles project through the said fire proof wall, doors carried by said casing, and means carried by said doors for engaging said supports and torches to lock the latter in position.
3. An apparatus of the character specified, embodying therein a casing and horizontal partitions therein, torches within said casing, supports for said torches carried by said partitions, each of said supports comprising an arm adapted to engage the torch and a rearwardly extending arm, and means for engaging said rearwardly eXtending arm to lock the torches in position.
l. An apparatus of the character specified, embodying therein a casing having a plurality of horizontal partitions therein, torches within said casing, supports on said partitions adapted to support said torches with their nozzles projecting through one Wall of said casing, and deflectors supported by said casing adjacent the wall through which the torches project.
5. An apparatus of the character specified, embodying therein a casing and a plurality of horizontal partitions therein, said casing having one of its walls formed of fire proof material, torches within said casing, a plurality of supports on each partition adapted to support said torches with their nozzles projecting through said fire proof wall, each of said supports comprising a pair of bifurcated arms adapted to engage the torch and a rearwardly extending bifurcated arm, doors hinged to the rear part of said casing, spring loops projecting from said doors and adapted to engage said rearwardly extending arms of the torch su ports, and a deflector supported adjacent the outer surface of said fire proof wall.
