The Schedule referred to in `these Letters Patent and making part of the same.

JOB ABBOTT, of Dexter, in the county of Penobscot and State of Maine, have made anew and useful'invent-ion, having reference to theY Covers of Culinary- Boiiers,--Dye-Vats, and various other vessels; and do herebydeclare the same to be fully described in the following specification, and represented in the accompanyingdrawmg, which is a vertical section of a boiling vessel. with my steam-discharging` and deviating cover applied thereto. In suchdrawing I A -A` denotes the vessel or boiler, and

B, itis cover, the latter being in-fthe form of a hollow conic frustum,' and made to closely fit tothe top of th'e boiler.

An inclinedv 1iange,a, arranged varound theV inner 5s|1'1'face` cfvthecover, and just over the top of the "vesselvfA, serves to intercept any `condensed steam whenflowing down `the inner surface of the cover, and'to convey ordirect it into the vessel.

The tube G may extend into the tube B', but this .Y is not so good' an arrangement as that `hereiubefore' described.

The opera-tion of the mov, ble cover will be readily understood'. 3. The combination of the intercepting ange f, or its equivalent-with the pipes G B', and the counterbalanced lever B, arranged substantially as specified.
