t-NI'TE l- JOSEPH AMATO, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
COMBINED TROUSERS-STRETCHER AND COAT-HANGER.
To all whom t may concern.'
Be it known that I, Josnrir AMATO, a citi zen of the United States, residing at New York, in the county 0f New York and State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Combined Trousers Stretchers and Coat-Hangers, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to garment holders and more particularly to combined trousers and coat hangers.
@ne of the principal objects of the invention is to provide a simple and efficient device upon which a coat may be hung and wherein each separate leg ot the trousers may be stretched to any required degree.
Further objects of this invention will appear as the following specific description is read in connection with`the accompanying drawing, which forms a part of this application, and in which Figure l is a side elevation. Fig. 2 is a top plan view. Fig. 3 is a bottom plan view. Fig. 4t is a vertical sectional view showing the trousers in place thereon.
Referring more particularly to the drawing, l represents a tubular rod which has connected to its outer end a bar or head 2 extending upon opposite sides thereof and braced to the rod by means of the struts 3. Slidably mounted in therod 1 is a rod 4L having a head 5 connected thereto and extending 0n opposite sides of the same, the head 5 being braced to the rod it by means of the struts 6. The rod 4l. is provided with a rack 7 which is adapted to be engaged by the spring pressed pawls S arranged upon opposite sides of the tubular rod 1. lt will thus be seen that by pulling the rod 4t out of the rod l that the relative separation of the head 5 may be properly controlled.
The head 2 has arranged upon opposite sides thereof clamping plates or bars 9 and 10 which are held in place by bolts 1l having wing nuts 12 arranged thereon. The head 5 has similar clamping bars or plates 13 and Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed March 2G, 1912.
Patented Dec. 2,1913.
Serial No. 686,242.
.14: mounted upon opposite sides thereofand held in place by the bolts 15 which are also provided with the wing nuts, as shown. The upper edge of the bars 18 and 14, as well as the head 5, is curved so as to provide a shoulder receiving surface which assures a proper hangei"to the coat and the member 13 carries a hook 16 by which the device may be suspended.
In practice, the wing nuts on the bolts 11 and 15 are loosened at one end of the plates 1)-10 and iii-11i and the legs of the trousers inserted between the plates and the bars, the legs ot' the trousers being arranged upon opposite sides of the heads 2 and 5, as shown in Fig. 4. The plates are then clamped upon the trousers legs and the heads 2 and 5 separated by pulling the red 4 out ot' the tubular rod 1.
That is claimed isz- 1. A device of the class described comprising a pair of telescoping members, means to hold said members in adjusted p0- sition, heads carried by said members, one ott said heads being arranged to receive a coat, clamping plates arranged upon opposite sides of the heads, certain of said plates conforming to the coat receiving head, and a supporting device secured lo one of the clamping plates.
2. A device of the class described comprisin g a pair o1 telescoping members, means to hold said members in adjusted position, heads carried by said men'ibers, one of said heads heilig arranged to receive acoat, means to brace the heads and the members, plates arranged upon opposite sides o'i" the heads, certain ot' said plates conforming to the coat receiving head, clamping bolts extending through the plates and heads, and a supporting hook carried by one of the plates.
