IMPROVEMENT IN .SAW-SETS.

G is the 'gauge-spring attached to the tool at the `corner of themortise diagonally across the latter from the notch E, extending to thelower wall; and

H is a temper-screw screwing through the stock into'the mortisel against the spring near `the lower end for settngout toward the notchE, more or less, as may be required.

.'In using ,this tol, the wall C is placed by the side of the saw-plate, and the point of the tooth is placed in the notch E against the oblique wall F. The tool is then poundedby a hammer until the point of the.

being adjusted to or'from the notch,`regulates the set [of the teeth. g' y* Instead ofthe spring-gauge, a sliding block may be .used for vthe same purpose with good results.
