Specification of Letters Patent.

To aZZ whom it may concern Be it known that I, HERMAN FLEISCI-IER, a citizen of the United'States, and a resident of New Britain, in the county of Hartford and State oi Connecticut, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Butts, Hinges, and the like, of which the following is a specification.
The object of the invention is to provide a lubricant for the butt pin upon which the leaves swing, in order to insure an easy moving device, and to eliminate wear.
The invention is illustrated in the drawings in which- Figure 1 is a view of a butt in which my invention is embodied. Fig. 2 is a view of the butt-pin.
Referring to the drawings, a, Z), denote the leaves of the butt, 0, d, the knuckles, e, the pin annularly grooved as at f, at points coincident with the joints between the knuckles, the groove being sufiiciently wide to extend into the end of each knuckle. This groove is packed with a lubricant of suitable character, providing a continuing source of supply, which is wiped into the bearing and insures the easier working of the butt and eliminates any tendency to wear which would be present in case the leaves were working 011 a dry hearing.
I claim as my invention:
In a device of the character described the combination with the leaves provided with cooperatively arranged knuckles, of apin extending longitudinally through said knuc kles to secure said leaves together, and an annular lubricant-holding channel formed in and as a part of said pin at apoint coincident with one or more of the joints between adjacent knuckles.
