To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, LIARGARETEW. MUR- RAY, a citizen of the United'States of America, residing at St. Joseph, in the county of Buchanan and State of Missouri, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Protective Overboots, of which the following is a specification.

The purpose of this over-boot is to protect the feet from dampness and cold, to prevent delicate colored slippers and hose worn to functions being soiled while on the street or in conveyances, to avoid changing the ordinary high shoes for slippers upon arrival at destination and then changing back to high shoes when leaving, and to obviate the annoyance of carrying slippers to and from functions, as this part of dressing can be done at home to better advantage thus avoiding much confusion and delay after arrival at destination.

I accomplish my object by the construction shown in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure l is a perspective of my over-boot, shown buttoned, and Fig. 2 is a perspective of the same, unbuttoned, the top thereof rolled over, the button fly folded back to permit the insertion of a foot with slipper or dress shoe thereon, the dotted lines in said figure showing such slipper.

Similar letters refer to corresponding parts, A representing an integral upstanding flange on the rubber sole of the over-boot extending around the peripheral edge thereof. A is the counter of the over-boot. B B are water-proof quarters and B a waterproof vamp joined to said flange and providing a central front opening ext-ending into proximity with the toe end of said overboot. C is a fly attached to one side of said opening said fly being provided with buttons or any suitable means for fastening it to the other side of said opening, and D is a short bellows tongue secured to the shoe and adapted to close the front end portion of said opening and to be covered by said fly.

Dotted lines in Fig. 2 represent a slipper F in the position it, or an inner shoe, would occupy when inserted by a foot into the over-boot, and-H is a rosette on said slipper.

It will be readily seen that by reason of the button-fly C extending down almost to the tip of the toe of the over-boot a slipper with buckle 'or rosette thereoncan be easily inserted in the over-boot when said buttonfly is folded open, as shown'in Fig. 2, without marring the SllPPBIaOI crushing the rosette. The bellows tongue D assists in permitting-the easy insertion of aslipper and rosette and-when the fly is buttoned prevents rain or snow seeping inand the'slip'per-or hose being soiled thereby. Said bellows tongue can be madeof waterproof sillvor rubber cloth thus forming little or no bulkiness at the toe. Said over-boot is preferably lined with a light color material thus protecting the slipper from being stained or discolored. The quarters, fly and vamp of the boot are preferably made of cravanette and being water proofed can be readily cleansed thus preventing delicate evening gowns from being soiled thereby. This over-boot is made light in weight having the appearance of a dress shoe and avoiding the clumsy appearance of the old-style over-shoe. It

can be adapted to the use of men and children as well as women and, as shown in Fig. 2, the heel seat A is adapted to accommodate any size or shape heel, high or low.

While in my description I have indicated the material I preferably use for different parts of the boot, I reserve the right to use any other suitable material including the substitution of leather for the sole and uppers of the over-boot.

What I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

1. An over-boot having a high top and lined with a soft light shade material to prevent the marring and staining of an inner shoe or slipper, said boot having a fly foldable backward from the toe end to the top thereof to permit the insertion by the foot of a slipper and having a short bellows tongue closing the lower end of the fly opening, the exterior of said boot being Waterproofed.

2. An over-boot comprising a rubber sole having an integral upstanding flange extending entirely around the peripheral edge thereof, a water-proof vamp and Water proof quarters joined to the marginal flange providing a central front opening extending from the top of the over boot, into proximity with the toe end of the over-boot, a fly attached to one side of said opening, means for fastening the fly to the other side of said opening, a short bellows tongue secured to the boot closing the front end portion of said opening and adapted to be covered and concealed by said fly.

4. An over boot comprising a rubber sole having an integral upstanding flange extending entirely around the peripheral edge thereof,-a water proof vamp and water proof quarters joined to the marginal flange roviding a central front opening exten ing from the top of the over boot into proximity with the toe end thereof, a fly attached to the boot at one side of said opening and means for fastening said fly at the opposite side of the opening.
