To all whom it may concern Be it known that we, Joser Sremoflesen and EMIL Gorrnsneeen, subjects of the Emperor of Germany, residing at Mayence, Germany, have invented certain lm rovements in lVood Grindin and Polishing Machines, of which the fol owing is a specification.
The present invention relates to a wood grinding and polishing machine of the kind in which the tool is held by a resiliently extensible and swingingly suspended driving shaft and adapted, while in motion, to adjust itself at various angles as determined by the surface under treatment.
The invention consists in the various details of construction and combination of parts as hereinafter set forth and claimed, its object being to provide a simple and easily operated machine whose revolving parts are, as far as practicable, covered up.

The machine is composed of an electromotor a which is rigidly secured to a shaft 12 and suspended by means of the latter in a block 10, the latter being formed with an upwardly tapering slot 11in which the shaft can move. The block 10 is itself pivoted to a carriage 9 which is guided by means of rollers along a. supporting 'rail 16. The block 10 rocks in a plane which is at right angles to the movement of the shaft 12 relative to the block. arrangement the motor a is able to swing about the carriage 9 in all directions. It can also be transported by means of the carriage along the rail 16. A plate 13, secured to the block 10, has a slot in which the shaft 12 is" guided. A. spring 15 encircles the shaft 12 and bears against the plate 3 and against an adjustable nut 14 on the shaft. For supplying polishing liquid to the disk t, bottles are mounted on the arms a, as shown by broken lines in Fig. 1. Tubes 2 lead from the bottles 0 to a funnel l which is secured to the body 6 and which com-' municates, through ducts 2, With a central chamber 3 in said body. Another duct t leads from the chamber 3 through a nipple formed at the lower part of the body 6 and delivers the liquid onto the disk t which admits the same through perforations 5 to the work piece. A flanged socket y is secured to the upper surface of the disk 3 so as to form a chamber in which to rctain'the polishing liquid within reach of the perforations 5.
