To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, THOMAS J. STARKEY, a citizen of the United States, residing at tozad, in the county of Dawson, State of Nebraska, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Sash-Holders; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention. such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

This invention is directed to improvements in sash holders, and has for its object to so construct a device of this character in a closed or partly open state.

Referring to the drawings, the numeral 1 designates a plate adapted to be secured to one of the side stiles of the usual window sash by screws or-similar securing devices 2. Formed integral with the plate 1 and an ranged in spaced relation thereon is a pair of circular flanges 3, each of which is provided with a shoulder 4, the purpose of which will appear later. Adapted for cooperation with each flange 3 are disks 5, the same being provided with perforations 6 which are engaged by the securing devices 2. 9 and 10 of the spring 11, said spring being formed with coils 12 which surround the securing devices 2. The arm 10 of the spring rests against the edge 13 of the flange 7, and the arms 9 against the shoulder 4 formed upon the flange 3, and as the flanges 7 are mounted eccentrically upon the disks 5 the spring serves to normally hold the periphery of the rubber disk 24 in yielding contact with the window frame.

The rubber diskl i is provided with a circular aperture 15 to accommodate the flange 7 of each disk 5, and to hold thedisk 14 against rotation upon the disks 5, the same are provided with spurs 16 which penetrate the rubber disk, thus securely holding a the same in place. The disks 1 are of slightly greater diameter than the disks 5 so that the peripheries thereof will be projected sufficiently to engage the window frame. The disks 5 are further provided with handles 17 which when grasped and forced toward each other will cause the disks 5 to move from engagement with the window frame to permit the window to be opened or raised in a partly open state,

and held in its partly open state upon releasing the handles 17,, whereupon the spring 10 will cause the disks 5 to'swing on the securing devices to frictionally engage the window frame. In the modified form of the invention the plate 18 is secured to the window sash, and has mounted thereon disks 19, the same being provided with rubber disks 20 constructed in the same manner as those of the preferred form.

Formed integral with the plate 18 is a lug 21, and in which is secured the ends of the. leaf springs 22, the other ends, of which being connected to the handles 23 formed' on the disks 19, and as the disks 19 are eccentrically mounted upon the plate 18, the springs 22 serveflt hold the peripheries of the rubber-disk 2 in contact with the window frame to hold the sash in its open or closed position.

What is claimed is A sash holder comprising a plate, a pair of circular flanges formed thereon, said flanges having shoulders formed thereon, securing devices passable through the. plate and being surrounded by the said flanges, a disk adapted for cotiperation with each of said flanges, said disks having formed upon their inner faces eccentrically arranged slotted flanges adapted to surround the securing de Fices, a springhaving its coils surrounding each securing device and its arms passing throughthe slotted flanges, one of said arms engaging the shoulder of the first named flange and its other arm engaging one .end wall ofjthe flange'of the ,disengage the rubber slotted fiange rubher disks secured to the inner faces of the nrst named disks for engaging the window frame, handles carried by the; first named disks being operable to disks from engagement with the Window frame when said handles are forced toward each other, said springs serving to force the rubber disks in engagement with the Window frame when the handles are released. 10
