Specification of Letters Patent.
To cllwhom it may concern Be it known that LLNAROISSE N. S; DAUDE- LIN, a citizen of the United States residin'g; at Fall River, in=the county of 'BIlSlZOl and;
State of Massachusetts, have invented certainnew and useful* Improvements-in Se'parating Devices, of whichthe following is a specificatlon.
My invention relates-to separating devices for use upon spinning frames, twisters; or
any other machines upon which a separating device is of use, and has for: its essential objects the prevention of the breakage of which will not injure-the fingers of the op-- erator and which is accessible to apply, remove or ad ust.
Another object is to enable the use of ring travelers of less weight than heretofore.
Further objects are-to secure there/citedends in a structurewhich is simple of few parts and easy to apply.
Other objects will be referred to in the following specification;
To the above ends referred to my inven tion consists in such parts and such combinations of parts as fall within'the scope of the appended claims.
In the accompanying drawings which form a part of this spec1ficat1on:F1gure 1 is a side elevation of my device applied to the adjacent portion of a splnning frame, Fig. 2 a rear elevation of the same and Fig. 3, a plan of the same.
Like reference characters indicate like parts throughout the views.
In the drawings 1 isthe spindle rail, 2 the ring rail and 3 the spindle of anordinary spinning frame, the other well known parts being omitted as being understoodinthe art.
My device or attachment comprises a plate or block 6 havinga rounded upper rear portion 7 and an arm 8 extending forwardly from its lower portion, together with a second arm 9 extending parallel with the arm 8 from the upper portion of the member 6, the arm 9 being provided with a longitudinal slot 10. Passing through the slot 10 is a binding screw 11 engaging a threaded opening 12 in the ring rail and provided with a head 13 overlapping the upper face of the-arml9: The armsi8 and 9 slidably embracethe rear margin of the rail' 2. The plate 36 is perforated as at 10-to admit passage therethrough of either the binding screw 27, already described, or a similar screw 41 in the bar 15 provided with a head 42 of greater diameter than the perforation 40. Under the screw heads 30 and 42 may be placed washers 43. Obviously the screws 41 are employed upon a majority of the separator blades, since in the other Patented Oct; 7, 1913.:
instance the screws 27 serve not only the function of retaining the separator blades, but also of holding the bracket plates 19, 21.
In operating the above device, when it is desired to doff the spindles the separators, the separator bar, and the brackets 19, 21 are thrown back into the position shown in broken lines in Fig. 1, where the parts are restrained against excessive downward movement, or are stopped, by the frictional engagement of the underface of the plate 19 with the curved rear face of the member 6, since the length of the lower portion of the member 6 at its lowest point exceeds the length of the inner face of the arm 21. The normal position of the parts during the operation of the machine to which my device is attached is shown in full lines in Fig. 1. Hereinit will be observed that my device being located upon the ring rail, and 'upon the rear edge of the same, is not'only conveniently located with regard to the work to be performed, but is in a constant relation to the traveler 45 of the ring 16. In this position separator blades are always in a constant and proper and most advantageous position to contact with the balloon, regardless of whether the ring rail is moving upwardly or downwardly. This result can not be obtained when the separator blades are located upon any portion of the machine frame which bears a fixed relation relatively to the motion of the ring rail. The particular formation of the plates 32,'and their supporting portions 36, make it possible to impart to the plates a maximum of strength with their points of connection with the bar 15, because excessive angular bending is not required. This construction of blade also locates the head of the attaching screw in an accessible position to the operator when it is desired to remove the screw. The perforations 34: in the blades prevent the drag ging of the thread or yarn, that is, these holes serve to break the vacuum or furnish machine at different times.

What I claim is 1. In a separating device, the combination with the ring rail, of blocks comprising curved rear end portions, and interspaced forwardly extending arms embracing the ring rail, one of said arms being provided with an. oblong slot, screws in the ring rail passing through said slots, heads upon the screws of greater diameter than the breadth of the slots, studs upon the bodies of the brackets comprising horizontal plates, and arms disposedat right angles to the plates provided with openings to loosely receive the studs, a separator bar upon the horizontal portion of the bracket provided with a longitudinal opening, and a screw in the horizontal portion of the bracket passing through the opening, a head upon the screw of greater diameter than the width of the opening, and separator blades fixed to the bar; V
