CHARLES VTYSOCKI, OF WHITING, INDIANA.
FAN.
Specification of Letters Patent. Patented Sept. 3t), 1913.
Application filed November 2'7, 1912. Serial No. 733,852.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that 1, CHARLES lVYsooni, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Whiting, in the county of Lake and State of Indiana, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Fans, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing.
This invention relates to fans, and the primary object of my invention is to provide a motor operated fan wherein simple and efiective means are employed, as hereinafter set forth, for disseminating or deflecting air in various directions, whereby the fan can be used for quickly cooling a compartment or producing a continuous circulation of air in all directions.
Another object of this invention is to provide an electric fan that has novel revoluble blades that agitate the air and cause a circulation in a compartment that cannot be accomplished by the ordinary type of electric fan. 7
A further object of my invention is to ac complish the above results by a mechanical construction that is inexpensive to manufacture, durable, and highly eflicient for the purposes for which it. is intended.
lVith the above and other objects in view the invention resides in the novel construction, combination and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter specifically described and then claimed. 7
Reference will now be had to the drawing, wherein V Figure 1 is a side elevation of a fan in accordance with this invention, and Fig. 2 is a horizontal sectional view of the same.
Further describing my invention in detail with reference to the accompanying drawing wherein like numerals denote corresponding parts throughout: 1 denotes a motor casing provided with suitable legs or supports 2 and within the motor casing is an ordinary type of electric motor that has an armature shaft 3 protruding from the upper end of the casing.
4 denotes a vertical shaft having heads 5 and 6, t-he former being connected to the armature shaft 3 through the medium of members 6 secured to said head. The heads 5 and 6 are circular in plan and are connected by a plurality of equally spaced tie rods 7 having spacer sleeves 8. The rods 7 and the sleeves 8 are arranged at the edges of the heads 5 and 6 and said heads are further more connected by vertical equally spaced shafts 9.
10 denotes the hubs of two-blade fans 11 that are revolubly mounted upon the shafts 9. The fans are spaced apart whereby they can independently revolve upon said shafts and these fans cause air to be circulated radially from the structure. 7
One embodiment has been illustrated, but it is to be understood that the structural elements are susceptible to such changes as fall within the scope of the appended claim.
What I claim is A fan comprising a rotatable body including a vertically disposed shaft, a circular head fixed to each end of said shaft, a series of equally spaced tie rods connected to said heads, a series of vertically equally spaced shafts interposed between and connected to said heads and arranged inwardly with respect to said tie bars, spacer sleeves mounted upon the tie bars and interposed between the heads, a series of pairs of blades, the blades of each pair extending in opposite directions with respect to each other and integral with their respective hub, said hubs loosely mounted upon said series of vertically disposed shafts.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature inthe presence of two witnesses.
CHARLES VVYSOCKI.
