l'o all whoin it may concern I, WALTER BROWN, of Boston, in the county oi' Suffolk and State of Massachusetts, have invent-od certain new and useful Improvements in Seatsfor Row-Boats, of which the following is a specification.
Nature and Oly'eot of the Intention.
The nature of my invention consists in providing a I row-boat with an adjustable seat, so arranged that it vwill follow the motion ofthe 1'o\\er,thus enabling him `Description of the Accompanying Drawing. General Description.
Let A represent a row-boat of ordinary description.

As represented in the drawing, this seat B slides on the Ways U C, vbut the exact construction is not material, the object being to so arrange the seat that'it may follow the motions of the rower;
In rowing a boathaving my improved seat, the rower places his feet against the foot-rest, and, by using his legs as toggle joints, lays out his strength upon the oar tothe best possible advantage, hisbody constantly remaining in the best form for rowing.
