Be it known that I, CHARLES I-I. Hansa- LER, a citizen of the United States, residing in the vcity ofPhila'delphia, county of Philadelphia, and State of Pennsylvania,.
haveinvented certain Improvements in Rotary Percussive 'Tools, of which the following is a specification.'
My inventionis designed toprovide improved mechanism for automatically rotating drills, bits or upsetting devices of percussive tools, particularly thel cutting devices of pneumatic hammer drills.
Mechanisms hereto-fore employed for Vrotating drills have been defective in their operations because," among other reasons,1
they have lacked the capacity to eifect the desired turning movement, on account of the close relation of themotor to its work and the character of the means by which it is actuated. Particularly .in .producing the turning movement by a fluid motor, the cylinder and piston employed have been disposed vand connected so that the clutch mechanism to be operated fails to engage 'upon defective act-ions or short strokes of the piston which result from the condensation 0f moisture in the air, the accumulation of dust, andthe limited timethe uid acts upon the piston. v
