-- APPLICATION FILED APR. 5, 1913.

]J Lll|||||l|ll| 10 J W ANDERSON UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JOHN WILLIAM ANDERSON, OF HAMILTON, ONTARIO, CANADA, ASSIG-NOR OF ONE- HALF TO ALLITH MANUFACTURING COMPANY, LIMITED, 0F HAMILTON, ONTARIO, CANADA, INCORPORATED UNDER THE J OIN T-STOCK COMPANIES ACT OF THE PROV- INCE OF ONTARIO, CANADA.
HANGER-TRACK FOR SLIDING DOORS.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Aug. 26,1913.
Application filed April 5, 1913. Serial No. 759,111.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, J OHN WILLIAM ANDERSON, of the city of Hamilton, in the county of ll entworth, in the Province of Ontario, Canada, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Hanger- Tracks for Sliding Doors, of which the following is the specification.
My invention relates to improvements in hanger tracks for sliding doors, and the object of the invention is to devise a hanger track which will be stronger, lighter and cheaper than those hitherto in use, and which can be applied to the track'brackets with greater case than has hitherto been the case.
My invention consists of a hanger track of tubular or semi-tubular cross-section having a series of longitudinal corrugations extending around the periphery thereof, all as hereinafter more particularly described, and illustrated in the accompanying drawing in which Figure 1 represents a side view of a hanger, partly in section, showing a track constructed according to my invention applied thereto. Fig. 2 is a perspective view showing one form of track said track being of semi-elliptical cross-section. Fig. 3 is a perspective view showing a tubular track and, Fig. 4 is a cross-section of a further modification showing a track in which the wheels of the hanger run in the interior of the same.
Like characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in each figure.
l is the hanger, and 2 is a yoke pivotally connected to the bottom thereof.
3 is the door secured to the yoke.
4: is the door jamb, and 5 is one of the track brackets mounted thereon.
6 and 7 are enlarged portions of the bracket having the upper and lower cross slits 6*, 7 a and 6", 7" respectively into which turned up edges 8 and 8 of the upper sections 8 and the lower section 8 (Fig. 1) of the track 8 are designed to be inserted.
9 are the longitudinal corrugations extending around the periphery of the track.
10 is the hanger wheel suitably journaled to the hanger and having an outer periphery grooved correspondingly to the corrugations 9 on the track 8.
From the above description it will be seen that in constructing a track in accordance with my invention, the corrugations 9 will greatly add to the strength of the same and will also compel the hanger wheel to run truer than has hitherto been the case. Further a track constructed according to my invention can be constructed of lighter material and consequently there will be a great saving in the cost of the same. Also should the wheel 10 have a tendency to leave the track, the outer or inner grooved portions of the periphery of the wheel will engage the corresponding corrugations on the track, and thus restore the same to its normal position.
As many changes could be made in the above construction and many apparently widely different embodiments of my invention within the scope of the claims constructed without departing from the spirit or scope thereof, it is intended that all matter contained in the accompanying specification and drawings shall be interpreted as illustrative and not in a limiting sense. For instance, a track can be constructed to suit the many types of hanger on the market, and therefore I do not wish to confine myself to the forms shown.
What I claim as my invention and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. In combination, hanger track brackets and a hanger track having a series of longitudinal corrugations extending around the periphery thereof, said track being suitably mounted on the track brackets.
2. In combination, hanger track brackets having enlarged portions with cross slits therein, and upper and lower track portions having turned over edges adapted to be inserted into the cross slits in the track brackets.
3. In combination hanger track brackets having enlarged portions with cross slits therein, and upper and lower track portions having turned over edges adapted to be inthe Province of Ontario, Canada, this 10th sertecl into the 1cross slits in the track brackclay of March 1913. ets, each of tie track portions havin a series of longitudinal corrugations on the JOHN WILLIAM ANDERSON 5 outer surface thereof. I11 the presence of In testimony whereof I have signed at EED. EAMES, Hamilton, in the county of Wentworth in H. M. F ETHERSTONI-IAUGH.
