To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HENRY F. Gonrz, a citizen of the United States, residing at Waterbury, in the county of New Haven and State of Connecticut, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Sockets for Incandescent .Electric Lamps; and I do hereby declare the following, when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings and the characters of reference marked thereon, to be a full, clear, and exact de scription of the same, and which said drawings constitute part of this application, and represent, in

This invention relates to an improvement in sockets for incandescent electric lamps, the object being to simplify the construction of the insulating parts so that they may be readily assembled and held by a single screw, and to lock the parts between the two sections of the insulating body; and the invention consists in the construction hereinafter described and particularly recited in the claims.
In carrying out my invention, I employ two insulating blocks 2, 3, which together form a round block of substantially usual form. The block 3 comprises somewhat more than half the size of a complete block, and in its inner face is formed with a rectangular recess or chamber 4 as shown in Fig. 1 of the drawings. l/Vithin this chamber is the usual cam 5 which is mounted upon the usual spindle 6 of a key 7. Above the cam is a contact spring 8 which is located within the chamber 4 and extends outward forming a binding post 9 which is located in a notch 10 formed in the edge of the block 3. Below the cam is a resistance spring 11. The screw shell 12 is of substantially usual construction except that the head 13 is cut away on one side to receive the bottom wall 14 of the chamber 4. Secured to one side of the member 3 is a contact arm 15 the inner end 16 of which passes through a clearance notch 17 formed for it in one side of the screw shell 12.
The members 2, 3, are connected together by a single screw or bolt 18, and the edge of the member 2 is formed with a notch to receive and assist in supporting the contact spring for the lamp. The lower end of the member 2 is also formed with a locking notch 19 which engages with the head 13 of the screw shell, and so that when the two members 2 and 3 of the insulating block are connected together, the screw shell will be clamped between them and the operating parts firmly held in the chamber 14. The resistance spring 11 assists in making proper connections with the head of the shell when the cam is turned.
The contacts and connections with the lamp are those usually employed and do not require particular description.
I claim 1. The herein described socket for incandescent electric lamps comprising two insulating members connected together by a single screw, one of said members formed in its inner face with a chamber, a cam mounted in said chamber, a screw shell formed at its upper end with a head one side of the head cut away to receive the lower wall of the said chamber, and cont-acts arranged between the members.
2. The herein described socket for incandescent electric lamps comprising two insulat-ing members forming a circular block, said two members connected together by a screw, the inner face of one member formed with a chamber, a cam mounted on a shaft extending through said chamber, the outer edges on one side of the members formed with notches and the outer edges of the other sides of the members formed with notches and intersecting grooves, a contact spring located within the notches on one side, and a contact spring located within the notches on the other side and extending through the said grooves, and a screw shell formed at its outer end with a head which is secured between the lower end of the said insulating members.
3. The herein described socket for incandescent electric lamps comprising two insulating blocks secured together by a single screw, the inner face of one of the blocks formed with a chamber, a cam in said chamher and mounted on a shaft extending into the chamber, contacts mounted in said chamber and held in place between notches formed in the adjacent edges of the said blocks, a
' screw shell formed at its upper end with a 10 screw cap formed on one side with a clearance opening for one of the contacts secured between the outer edges of the said insulating blocks.
