Be it known that l, ERNEST HUNoLD, a citizen of the United States, residing at Providence, in the county of Providence and State of Rhode Island, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Self-lining- Razor-'Strop Hangers, of which the following is a specification.
My invention has reference to an improvement in razor sti-ops and more particularly to an improvement in self alining razor strop hangers which may be permanently secured to a relatively fixed object in any one of a plurality of positions. These razor strop hangers as usually heretofore constructed allow for a free movement of the strop to aline on the natural pull on the strop by the user in stropping a razor. They are not provided with any means for locking or holding the attached end of the strop in a flat or horizontal position, the strop turning or twisting laterally when in use. This twisting or turning of the strop when in use prevents the correct stropping of the razor and the razor is extremely liable to cut the strop or the user.
The object of my invention is to improve the construction of a self alining razor strop hanger, whereby the hanger may be permanently secured in any one of a plurality of positions to a relatively lixed object, such as a stand, dresser, shelf or to a wall, and in any position it would be secured, the strop will be self alining on a natural pull on the strop and will automatically lock the attached end of the strop and hold the same in the correct flat or horizontal position for stropping the razor.
My invention consists in the peculiar and novel construction of a self alining razor strop hanger, said hanger being provided with means for automatically locking or holding the attached end of the strop in a fiat or horizontal position, on the natural pull on the strop in stropping a razor, and having details of construction, as will be more fully set forth hereinafter and claimed.

In the drawing 6 indicates a portion of the top of a stand, 7 the attached end portion of a razor strop provided with my iinproved self alining razor strop hanger 8. rfhe iiexible body portion 9 of the strop is secured to a metal end piece 10 having a yoke shaped end 11.
The hanger S consists of an approximately square shaped body portion 12 having oppositely disposed ears 18. 13. in each of which is a hole 14 by which the hanger is secured by screws to the stand top 6 or other relatively fixed object. The body portion l2 has a convex outer face 15, a recess 16 in the back in the bottom of which are four equally disposed radial notches 17. 17., a hole 18 which extends from the bottom of the recess 16 out through the convex face 15 and is reduced to form an internal annular shoulder 19, as shown in Fig. 5. A stud 20 extends through the hole 18 and has on its inner end oppositely disposed pins 21. 21. and through its outer end a transverse hole 22. The stud 2O is pivotally secured to the metal end piece 10 by a transverse pin 23 which extends through the hole 22 in the stud 2O and through transverse holes in the arms of the yoke shaped end 11. as shown in Fig. 1. A coiled spring 24 surrounds the stud 2O intermediate the pins 21. 21. and the shoulder 19.
1n stropping a razor, the strop is brought up into a horizontal position as shown in The natural outward pull or tension on the strop in stropping the razor, will pull the stud 20 outward against the tension of the coiled spring 24 and the pins 21. 21. will enter two oppositely disposed notches 17. 17. and hold the strop in a fiat or horizontal position, thereby preventing turning or twisting of the strop when in use. The hanger 8 may be secured with the ears 13. 13. in either a horizontal or vertical position and operates exactly the saine in either position. The strop when not in use is allowed to fall by gravity and hangs downward from the stud 20 in an out of the way position.
Having thus described my invention I claim as new 1. In a razor strop hanger, a body member, a rotatable member in the body member, means for pivotally securing a razor strop to the rotatable member and means on the rotatable member coacting with means on the body member, whereby when the razor strop is held in its operative position the rotatable member is locked against rotation by a pull on the razor strop.
2. In a razor strop hanger, a body member, a rotatable and longitudinally movable member in the body member, means for pivotally securing a razor strop to the rotatable and longitudinally movable member, means for holding the rotatable and longitudinally movable member in aninward position un der spring tension and means on the rotatable member coacting with means on the body member, whereby when the razor strop is held in its operative position the rotatable and longitudinally movable.membeL1 is locked against rotation by a pull on the razor strop. n

In a razor strop hanger, a body member having a hole, a rotatable and longitudinally movable stud extending through the hole in` the body member, means for pivotally securing the end or a razor strop to the outer end of the stud, means for holding the stud in its normal inward position under spring tension, means on the rotatable member coacting with means on the body member, whereby when the razor strop is held in its operative position the stud is locked against rotation by a pull on the razor strop andA means for securing the hanger to a relatively fixed object.
4. ln a razor strop hanger, a body member having a recess in the back, a central hole extending from the recess out through the body, an annular shoulder in the hole, a plurality or equally disposed radial notches in the bottom of the recess, a rotatable and longitudinally movable stud eX- tending through thecentral hole, transverse pins on' the inner end of the stud, a coiled spring on the stud engaging with the annular shoulder and the transverse pins, means for pivotally securing the end of a razor strop to the outer end of the stud and means for securing the hanger to a relatively iiXed object.

In a razor strop hanger, a body member having a convex face, a recess in the back, a central hole extending Jfrom the recess out through the convex face, an annular shoulder` in the hole, four equally disposed radial notches inthe bottom of the recess, a rotatable and longitudinally movable stud extending through the central hole, two: transverse oppositely disposed pins on the inner end or the stud, a coiled spring on the stud engaging with the annu lar shoulder and the transverse pins, means for pivotally securing the end or a razor strop to the outer end of the stud and means for securing the hanger to a relatively iiXed object. 4
