The nmeline embodies a cas .of`any @referred deegu, construcogg@ xmmbl yX10 of parts suit-ably assembled, and referring by numerals to the drawings, 11 in each instance indicates one of a roup of vertically reciprocative edgewise pates such as are usual in Brandt automatic cashiers. Each plate ll is provided with a springcontrolled shank l1 guided in a slotted top-plate l2 of the machine-casing, and in another slotted plate 13 Within said casing. Each of the plate-shanks is in engagement with the slotted shank 14 of a push-button 14, and the push-button shank is also guided in the plate l2 aforesaid. Each plate 11 and the push-button 14 therewith constitutes what is hereinafter termed a key of the machine, its general construction being that. originally disclosed in Patent VYo. 824,841, July 3,1906. As is also usual in Brandt automatic cashiers the plate portion 11 of each key is provided with a foot or feet 11, and in the presentmachine. each foot is opposed by one of a series of edgewi angle-plates constituting bellcrank levers 15 all nlcrumed on a single rod 16 having preferably bushed ends en gagging supports 16 in the Inachine-casing, 1n which they are held by overlying screws 16" or other vsuitable means, it being understood that the levers are actuated singly and associated vby the keys of the machine. A spiral-spring 17 connects ,the rear arm of each lever 15 with a serially recessed angleplate 18 secured at each end to in inner upper ledge 19 of the machine-casing, each ledge being vertically recessed to form a seat in which a preferably hushed end of a rod 2O is held by an overlying screw 20 or other suitable means.
rllhe rc-l 20 serves as a support for .as many pendant swingfhangersQ-l as there are bellcrank levers 15 in themachine. Each hanger free to swing and is guided in a recess of the plate 18 and is straddled by a forked end of a. coinpnsher 22 pivot/ed thereto. As a matter of detail, the ivotpin 23 for each coiirpusher has a flange head, and one end of aleasprin'g 24, fastened by a screw 26 to the adjacent hanger, engages the pin-head against its flange, as
is best shown in Fig, 9, similar means for preventing automatic separation of a coinpusher from its carrier having been ori -1- nally disclosed in the application aforesaid.
A spiral-spring 27 connects a fork-branch of each coin-pusher with the widened lower end of the hanger 2l to which said pusher is pivote-il, and an anti-frietion roller 28 carried with said hanger oplfioses the forward arm oi lone ofthe levers 1:3. This lever-arm guided between the hanger and a` guard parallel to tbc saine, the guard lleing last, on n spar f rivet ft). a' i also he t shown in litgf :md ille spindle jfl for keys.
From the foregoing; it will be readily understood that each ol the coin-puslnr hungex's is swung forward :is avrcsult of a rock of a lever 15 from normal position, and to (leader. sound ot impact of said hangers against the back of a front-plate 32 ol the nmcbinecasing below a rearwardlyinclined coin-tray 31, an interposed butler-strip of wood or other suitable material is employed. On return of the lever 15 to normal position, its forward arm operates upon the spacing-rivet 80 in its path to thereby re.- tract the companion hanger and coin-pusher therewith, the operation being automatic, as a result of contraction of a previously expanded spring 17 when the actuatingkey or said lever is relieved (if-pressure. It will thus be seen that the levers 15 serve as a means for moving the hangers forward and as positive means for retrncting the same. Under ordinary conditions, the hangers would, by gravity, niove backward as soon as the pressure on the levers 15 has been released, but owing to the presence of coin in the tray and possible frictional contact with the guides, interfering with such normal backward movement, it has been foundv expedient and advantageous to positively retract the hangers in the manner above stated. AS a guide for the lower ends of the aforesaid hangers, a serially recessed angle-plate 18 is fastened to a bottom-'plate 33 of the machine-casing.
The top-plate 12 of the machine is inset at such an elevation as to provide for sulicient length of key-stems wit-hout undue projection of the same above the aforesaid the front rank are preferably inclined on their Shanks toward the operator so that' their indices may be more readily seen, the angle'of inclination being;n such that is best adapted to facilitate rapid action of said The universal rocker 34 of thc-machine opposes the rear arms of all the levers 15 and has preferably hushed crank-ends in supports 231i with which the machine-casing is provided, said rocker being connected by Spiralsprings with a serially recessed plate 36 in which the roar arms of said le'- vers are guided, said plate being secured at its ends to supports 3G with Whirh said casing is provided. The springs 35 expand when the rocker 34 is depressed and primarily assist to contract to automatically return said rocker to normal position when relieved of pressure. The spring actuated rocker serves alsto modify the actuation of the bell crank 15 in resisting their movement. under key pressure, thus slowing/up on the electing actifn or impulse of the ejector lnefhanisnr.y after the primary artpating impulse has been applied.
