UNITED STATES PATENT FIQ.
HAROLD BAKKE, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS.
POCKET.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, HAROLD BAKKE, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the city of Chicago, county of Cook, and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Pockets, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to pockets and particularly to the class in which the pocket is provided with partitions dividing it into secret pockets.
A further object is to provide a device of this character which is of simple construction and efficient in operation.
Other objects will appear hereinafter.
The invention consists in the combinations and arrangements of parts hereinafter described and claimed.
The invention will be best understood by reference to the accompanying drawing forming a part of this specification, and in which,
Figure 1 is a side elevation of a portion of a garment equipped with a pocket made in accordance with my invention, and Fig. 2 is a vertical section of the same.
The preferred form of construction, as illustrated in the drawing, comprises a portion 3 of a garment which is slitted at at and provided with a hem 4C. The pocket consists of portions 5 and 6 and partitions 7 and 8. All of the members 5, 6, 7 and 8 are secured together by a stitching 9 passing around their two sides and bottom, as clearly illustrated. The side 6 is also secured to the garment 3 by means of a stitching 10 across its top end. A flap 11 is secured to the top edge of partition 8 by means of stitching 12 and is extended over the top edge of part-ition 7 and passes the opening 4. downwardly into the pocket between portions 5 and 7. In this manner the pocket between the partitions 7 and 8 is covered and since the flap 11 passes the opening 4, an unauthorized Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed October 30, 1912.
Patented July 15, 1913. Serial No. 728,531.
person would not be able to find this intermediate pocket without the knowledge of the wearer of the garment. The pocket between the sides 6 and 8, having its mouth above the opening 4; would not likely be found by an unauthorized person without the knowl edge of the wearer of said garment. The pocket between portions 5 and 8 being open as in the usual form of pocket would attract an unauthorized person thereby preventing him from finding the hidden pockets.
WVhile I have illustrated and described the preferred form of construction for carrying my invention into effect, this is capable of variation and modification without departing from the spirit of the invention. I, therefore, do not wish to be limited to the precise details of construction set forth, but desire to avail myself of such variations and modifications as come within the scope of the appended claim.
Having described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
In combination, a pocket having partitions dividing it into innermost, outermost and intermediate pockets, the outermost and innermost pockets having a common opening, the walls defining the openings of the innermost and intermediate pockets extending above said common opening; and a flap secured to the top of the innermost of said partitions and extending over the mouth of said intermediate pocket and said common opening into said outermost pocket, substantially as described.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
HAROLD BAKKE.
I Vitnesses:
JosHUA R. H. Po'r'rs, BRAYTON Gr. RICHARDS.
