DRY CLOSET.
To (17 Z whom. it may concern.
Be it known that I, Mann E. Snnnmrzn, a citizen of the United States, residing at hictlehec. in the county of Disha and State of .-\rkansas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Dry Closets, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in dry closets, and is designed to improve the construction of closets of this character in several particulars.
The prime object of the invention is the provision of a sanitary closet that may be supplied with a disinfectant in a convenient and eti'cctive manner, that may be cleansed with facility, and that is comparatively cheap in first cost and simple in construction.
The invention consists essentially in the combination and arrangements of parts as hereinafter pointed out and specified in my appended claims.
in the accompanying drawings I have exemplified one complete example of the physical embodiment of my invention constructed according to the best mode I have so far devised for the practical application of the principles of the invention.
Figure 1 is a front view of a closet embodying the novel features of my invention, the ventilator and disinfectant distributing pipes being broken away for convenience of illustration. Fig. 2 is a transverse view in section. Fig. 3 is a vertical longitudinal sectional view, at right angles to Fig. 2, and Fl". 4 is a perspective view of one of the disinfectant trays or drawers, employed in the invention.
In the preferred embodiment of my invention I employ a trap or receptacle 1, which may be of metal, wood, or other suit able material, but in the drawin s I have illustrated the receptacle as made of galvanized iron.
At its rear the receptacle is provided with a door 2, hinged at 3, and adapted to swing downwardly. The rear wall of the receptacle as indicated at 4, is cut awa near the bottom and exposes an opening or the insertion of a tray or fiat box 6 havin perforations 6 in its upper surface, which i orms a false door or bottom for the receptacle.
At the ends of the rear side the wall is cut away to admit of the insertion of a pair Specification of Letters Patent.

stance. through the opening as at Patented July 8, 1913.

of trays or drawers, 7 and 8 each having its inner face. perforated as at 9. As clearly seen in Fig. 3 these two trays 7 and 8 may be pushed into the ends of the receptacle 1, resting on the upper face of the flat box and guided by the strips 10.
The 11 )per wall or top of the receptacle 1 is provir ed with a pair of openings, as 11 over which the duplicate sections 12 of the sectional hoppers 13 are placed. The two sections of the hoppers may be adjusted with relation to each other and so held, by means of the screw bolts 14; and nuts 15 which hold the parts together through the medium of cars 16, as will be understood. If desired the upper and lower sections of these hoppers may, respectively, be fastened to the underside of the box seat 17 and the top surface of the receptacle 1.
Toward the rear of the reee Jtacle 1 and located about midway of its ends, the top of the receptacle is provided with a ventilating opening over which the foraminous screen 18 is placed, and above the opening a pipe or tube 19 is placed which is passed through an opening in the box seat, and from this point an upwardly extending ventilating pipe 20, with a cap 21, passes out through the top of the housing about the closet, (not shown).
The drawers, boxes or trays for the disinfectant may be filled with lime for in- 22, before being placed in the receptacle. But I prefor to use the illustrated disinfectant device as shown in Fig. 1, wherein a tank 23 is provided with a series of pipes or tubes 24 ex tending down into the openings 22. By means of a slide or valve 25 located just below the disinfectant tank, the lime may be admitted to either or all of the conveying tubes 24. c
It will be understood that changes within the scope of my claims may be made in the installation of my invention, such for instance as changes in the number 01" hoppers and consequent additions of receptacles and trays, without departing from the spirit of my invention.
From the above description taken in connection with the drawings it is evident that 10s I have provided a device of this character which fulfils the conditions set forth as the object of my invention.
Having? thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. The combination in a dry closetwitha receptacle, of a removable receptacle forming a hottom and having a foraminons upper wall. independent, removable side tra 5 each formed with a foraminous inner we 1, and snitable hoppers connected to said re- 10 eeptaele.
formed with an 11 per foraminons wall, independent, relno 'a )le side trays each formed with a foraminous inner wall, hoppers connected to said receptacle, a ventilating duct, a disinfectant tank and tubes from said tank to said trays.
In testimony whereof I allix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
